Ha that's what I thought, I'm assuming they meant NO.eskbanker said:
That should presumably read "no, it means current account customer"!adamp87 said:
Yes I believe it means current account customertheonenonly said:So I want to make a switch for the £150 cashback, however I'm reading that it's for new customers only. Seeing as I have a credit card with them, do I count as an existing customer?
Anyway, paragraph 2(b) of the offer Ts & Cs clarifies the situation, but the HSBC homepage states that "Our current account switching offer is ending on Friday 28 January", so anyone looking to take advantage of it needs to get their skates on....
Guess I'll have to be quick and make one then!0 -
Can you make the switch after account opening? I made a Starling account recently to take advantage of these offers, but one of my DD's have not been set up yet, so when creating the HSBC account it asked me if I'd like to switch and I said no.0

The HSBC website seems to suggest you can either elect to switch as a part of the online application process, otherwise existing accounts (which this would be since it is already open) can only switch in branch. As long as you initiate a switch within 30 days of opening the account, and open the account before they withdraw the offer later today, then you should be okay though. Might be worth a quick phone call to see if they can initiate over the phone though, rather than forcing a branch visit.theonenonly said:Can you make the switch after account opening? Also, if you're worried about the DDs not being set up in time, just pick a switch date a few weeks from now. DDs require at most 10 working days to be set up, so should be plenty of time before the switch starts to get them sorted.0 -
Applied for this HSBC Advance via the MSE link 19th Jan 2022 and got everything except for the Security Number to set up Internet Banking. Chased them about it and they said it was posted 21st and to allow 7 working days! Finally arrived today (28th) and it is a form that I have to return via a Prepaid envelope that will be processed within 6 working days and a number posted to me! Seriously! It is 2022 and their digital banking experience is bound up in Snail Mail. In the meantime I am blind to what is happening with my new account. Contrast this with a recent Virgin Credit Application, applied 24th Jan 2022 , card arrived 28th Jan , online banking set up in 10 minutes!desthemoaner said:Morning all.
Anyone either had experience of, or currently going through the HSBC Advance account switch via MSE's link?
My brother and I applied on the same day ( both joint accounts with our spouses, both switching from Santander).
I've had texts, a barrage of emails and our cards arrived on Monday. No telephone pass code or PIN numbers yet so I can't access online banking. My brother, however, has had one text, no emails, no cards.
Presumably they're snowed under by folks wanting a free £150 in January, but the inconsistency is a bit concerning.1 -
Hello.. has HSBC pulled the switcher offer? Does anyone know if there is another bank who offer an incentive for switching with Standing Orders only?

While I believe you, can you point me to the T&Cs that show all the requirements? I can't see it on that page, maybe being a bit dense.newbie8 said:robatwork said:

No Direct Debits are mentioned, therefore they are not required.robatwork said:

As proof, my mate switched and got the reward and he hasn't any direct debits.0 -
Getting 2 (or more) DDs isn't that hardnewbie8 said:
Google for charity of your choice, you can setup a DD as low as £1 a month
You're making money from a switch, so why not pay small % of it to good causes0
