A CPA does not require authorisation. They can still be processed after a card has expired. Longest I have seen was 5 years. This is all covered in Visa's regulation's.
They only get stopped after a bank has cancelled them as retailer gets a message about the cancelation. Take it this will be from Visa/Mastercard via the system.
But have seen retailers ignore this. Still if they do, not only do they lose the money (chargeback) they also get charged for the privilege of the bank claiming the money back
They (CPA) are the scurge of the earth as far as many of us feel. They are abused by many retailers. Think the free trial, then take larger amounts as it's in their T/C.
Scary, to say the least.
I always tell anyone that want's to cancel a insurance based one to make sure they speak to the company. Or they risk having to declare a cancelled ins policy & all that it will entail.
"one of these companies" is the usual "Free Trial" type companies. Which are mostly oversea's so not in a position to chase. Not had to deal with any cloud co's, but they do have a good hold on customers as they hold something they may well want back.

If you want to identify the companies involved (and have been charged), you could try a money management app like Emma which will (as long as you give it permission) analyse your spending and list the companies which you have direct debits or other regular payments with (even if they are infrequent) - you then know who to target...

They havent made any payments yet and don't know of any banks that show you what CPAs you've got unlike DDs (one of the many issues with CPAs)Emmia said:If you want to identify the companies involved (and have been charged), you could try a money management app like Emma which will (as long as you give it permission) analyse your spending and list the companies which you have direct debits or other regular payments with (even if they are infrequent) - you then know who to target...1 -
Emma shows me all my regular payments direct debits, standing orders and CPAs from multiple accounts in one list. Having this in one place means I can identify things easily and cancel if needed, irrespective of what they are... but yes a payment would need to have been taken.Sandtree said:

Perhaps if this is difficult to keep track of, avoiding signing up in the first place is a good idea.0 -
I think that the Emma software is just looking at regular payments.
As there are no lists of CPA's at the bank end. Even access to the visa blocking system, does not list them only retailers payments have been made to.
So from bank staff perspective it is all about knowing which companies take CPA's. But even then, there are always new payment processers who deal with subscriptions. Especially when adult related sites are concerned.Life in the slow lane0
