Hi,
My wife and kids are flying from London on the 24th of December ( boxing day ) and wondering how to get the test ready for them since they will be arriving on the 25th, because they are taking a connection flight that involves staying overnight at the airport in Frankfurt. They land in Algiers on the 25th, and the authorities requires at PCR test taken within the last 36 hours.

I am flying on the 26th, and wondering if there is anyway how to do the test on the 25th  !!  Xmas day...

Can anyone please assist, this is the first time we are flying with this PCR issue and wondering how this works.

This is a big dilemma for us that I hope someone could assist.

  • Have you looked into the testing sites at the airport ? They usually offer the fastest turnaround time PCR tests .

If transiting with an overnight landside stay then you'll need to read up on the published entry requirements for both Germany and Algeria, in the context of your vaccination status, ages of children, flight timings, etc, starting at https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/germany, but chances are that you'll need to pay premium prices for onsite airport testing with rapid results.
  • To avoid premium services that cost a lot, there is this company Qured that asks for departure day in which they will send the result, does that mean the test will be counted from the date received, or from the date sent to them ? I just want to be sure what to do.

As above - given your circumstances (route/overnight stay/Christmas) you're unlikely to be able to avoid 'premium' services as you'll need certainty - the risk of doing a 'value' service will be that you don't get to go anywhere and lose the trip.

Much as this is a Moneysaving site I'd chalk it up as a necessary cost to take the trip

As above, you need to read the guidance published by the appropriate authorities - the FCDO gov.uk site explains the situation from a UK perspective but it's the Algerian guidance itself that'll be definitive for entry there.

    https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/algeria/entry-requirements#entry-rules-in-response-to-coronavirus-covid-19 is clear though:
entry to Algeria by air requires evidence of a negative PCR test taken less than 36 hours before the time of arrival
Depending on the exact schedule, it may be necessary to take an additional test in Frankfurt....

Not sure what you're asking - you also need to take a test in the 36 hours before arrival.  If that effectively means taking one on the 25th, make 100% sure you're using a provider who can accommodate both a test and return of results that day....
  • also when is the latest for us to test? They all say next day, would that count already towards the time, or is it when received?

I'm struggling to think of any other way of saying the same thing that's been said repeatedly already - the test needs to be taken in the 36 hours prior to arrival in Algeria (but obviously you'll need the results back prior to boarding):
