British Airways - Wont change name on a flight booking

Hi - has anyone had experience of this ?
I paid for my friends flight ticket online but booked under her married name - not knowing she has reverted to her maiden name on her passport , post divorce.
Try as we might - we cannot get through to BA - who tell me on Twitter they wont deal with a query from me as the booking is in her name - though its on my card. 
We fly on Saturday and shes panicky she wont be allowed to board. 
The BA live chat and helpline are beyond a joke

keep trying to get through and get it changed.  but if you can't then ensure that she has all the right documents.  marriage certificate and decree nisi (or whatever it's called) to support the change of name to what's in her current passport. get to the airport extra early so you can talk to someone about it there.

I had to fly once using a my husband's name despite never having changed to that as the person booking the flights had made an assumption.  my passport has my birth name and the marriage certificate helped to connect the dots.
