Virgin Media broadband coming to an end would this work?

I will shortly be coming to the end of my Virgin Media broadband deal and be free to cancel my broadband without penalty.

The want me to pay an additional £12 as I had a deal putting the cost up to £52..

Could I cancel and then have my wife sign up as a new customer and retain the same phone number or if that won't work could she tell Virgin Media I have moved out (or died :/:wink: ) and still use the same bank account for the DD as it is a joint account?

She does have a bank account in her name (HSBC to get the switch bonus over a year ago if it is still active)

I could leave them altogether and go to Sky or Talk Talk but that means getting an electrical socket installed next to the old BT phone socket, if it still works, there is no dial tone or anything, and then running a cable upstairs

Getting the Mrs to sign up and getting a new customer deal would probably work , I bet they don’t even check if the old surname is the same as the new ( it could be Smith, Jones , White or something common so wouldn’t necessarily indicate any subterfuge anyway ) but asking to keep the phone number may highlight the fact it’s not really a new customer , having said that, they may not be bothered anyway.

They want to keep you as a customer so just tell them you want the same contract or you will have to go elsewhere. they have a lot of power to set up deals . I believe they have a specific department called "customer retentions".

    No.
And telling companies you have died when you haven't is not only fraud but also just plain awful.
I do hope you're not complaining about the Christmas party at number 10 - morally wrong.
No wonder people don't give a damn these days.

EDIT:  Ohh, now it was a joke.  You're joking about dying.  Great person!
