E.On Next - Lower DD Tariff - Beware
If, like us, you were moved to E.On Next when your provider went bust be aware of the following;
E.On will inform you that you are on their standard variable tariff BUT you will pay a lower rate if you set-up a Direct Debit.
However, you will NOT automatically be on that lower tariff.
You need to do a New Tariff search and switch yourself to the cheaper DD rates - they don't do it for you.
Also, you may find as soon as any credit is allocated from your previous supplier, E.On make up a phantom charge and take it all away - no bills or invoices to state what the charge relates to.
Resolver complaint submitted as no chance of getting through to E.On Next to resolve direct with them.

I'm currently awaiting a second reply (via email) from Eon.Next about my first bill. I mean if they can generate a bill for me to pay then I want an itemised bill to first show what tariff I'm paying then of course how much actual gas and electric I've used. This deduction of £98 from my credit balance says it's for my latest bill, just s monetary figure absolutely nothing else.coupleuk said:If, like us, you were moved to E.On Next when your provider went bust be aware of the following;

I believe we should get an e-mailed bill sent, I've had nothing. It's only because I keep logging on to my account that I realised they had taken the amount, the first bill. I know it's early days and all that but come on your expected to pay a bill with no actual breakdown of costs, only this total (£s) for electrical and a total for gas. It's like scanning your own shopping at Sainsbury's (we do) then believing the total as it just asks for payment with no option for an itemised till receipt.🤔0 -
"You need to do a New Tariff search and switch yourself to the cheaper DD rates - they don't do it for you."Thanks for the information. I have checked, and yes, I am still on the higher tariff.I can't find how to switch from that to the lower DD tariff.Any info on how to do that in my account? Phoning thm is a waste of time, on hold for ever!

The details of the Eon Next tariffs available to me (as a present Eon customer) are far harder to find than they should be. For those wanting to be put on (what I believe to be) the capped DD rates, the tariff looks to be Next Flex - Direct Debit Version. The rates will vary slightly from region to region. So these are for the NE region.oldagetraveller1 said:"You need to do a New Tariff search and switch yourself to the cheaper DD rates - they don't do it for you."Thanks for the information. As to how you change from the current tariff Eon have put you on, to this cap, or one of their fixed tariffs for that matter, I don't know. Not clear if I could do this online if I wanted to do so.
The link for all their current tariffs is https://www.eonnext.com/tariff-search

I tried phoning them. Gave up after waiting on hold for 30 minutes.Sent an e-mail to which the reply was phone us, it can't be done by e-mail. It also advised to select a new tariff in your account. I can't see how other to change it to the lower Direct Debit rates. They automatically put me on the higher pay on receipt of bill rates.I tried their tariff search and all that achieves is a list of tariffs without an option to change.Absolutely useless.

Thre is something wrong in the way Eon Next have set this up and you have my sympathy. I know this may be an anathema to you but have you also tried the dreaded social media - I got replies via Twitter with my issues. Were you able to try ringing them up at 9am?oldagetraveller1 said:I can't see how other to change it to the lower Direct Debit rates. Saw the V2 tariff last night and rang them today, at 16:10, to switch over. Total call time was 15 minutes, so around a 10 minute hold.

I just sent them an email and they replied almost immediately putting me on the DD tariff. They also revised my DD and put it up by £40 ! Maybe I was too optimistic when I set it....1

When does the V2 tariff run out? - I see Fix to 2023v2 on the website but no information about when in 2023 it runs toPennineAcute said:Saw the V2 tariff last night and rang them today, at 16:10, to switch over. Total call time was 15 minutes, so around a 10 minute hold.0 -
I thought they were doing an update run Fri / over the weekend to sort out the tariff rate ? Anyway, I sent them an e-mail last week and they changed me to the DD rate within a few hours and the debit showing on my account reduced. The debit was correct for the use at the pay on receipt of bill tariff and changed to the correct amount for the DD tariff. I think they only issue bills at a set time but will update the debit amounts when a read is submitted. Not a problem for me as I work out the bill myself.
