Thanks both, I was taken aback by the offer from Virgin of 2.5% to be honest, it seems the absolute minimum I can find elsewhere is 3.5% going up to about 4%.

  • The rates will be tailored based on your circumstances so if it works for you then it seems sensible if you’ll save money in the long run

Figures are in for money saved by using the Money Transfer.

    Previous Debt: £7884.38
    New Debt: £7848.74
    Total Saved: £35.64

I'll take that as a minor win!

Given the recent Money Transfer and merging of the HP loan I've had to rejig my finance calculator slightly.
I'm still tracking as though I have two separate debts to pay, although it is really all on the one card, this is more to keep my psychological self happy as a £7848.74 card balance does not look pretty no matter how much money I've saved!

Looking like the original debt on CC1 will be "Paid off" at the end of April.
Still looking like the remainder of the debt (What was the HP loan) will be paid off June/July.

Officially closed the old CC, car finance account (Good riddance!), accepted a credit limit increase on CC1 to keep my credit report happy with a lower utilization. Dare I say this is the final burn?

Also expecting the £200 Santander switch bonus to come through within 60 days, I'll commit at least £100 of this as an extra payment.

    4 - (ish) - Months - To - Go !!

  • Hopefully this will be the final rejigging you need to do and it’ll be clear within the 4 months you’re predicting.  You’ve done so well, it’s the final push now.

No update or any further PAD's to announce, made a few sales on eBay and locked the profits away unless they are needed in an emergency. Unfortunately my debit card details have been stolen and thankfully I caught them in the act after they withdrew money from my account, froze the card promptly and working to get that money back (Hopefully Monday). On the plus side, NSD's galore whilst I have no debit card!

  • It sucks that your card details were stolen, but glad you caught them. Every cloud has a silver lining though with the NSDs
