It will not be accepted for boarding a flight.Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right!1 -

It's human nature to just want to get back home. So travellers will do anything they need to in order to provide a negative test certificate, which in this case is swab fresh air. If you are safe to travel out, you are safe to come back if within 10 days is the most pragmatic approach. Applying your own mini quarantine and keeping away from people before, after and during your trip is what we all need to be doing.0

Does anyone know if i can take my already purchased Lateral flow test kit out to Spain to use as my pre-departure test, new UK rule. I bought it a month ago to cover the UK arrival rules but with the change to PCR test it is now spare.0

How do you get your 'proof' though to satisfy the rules? You will need a certificate or a code to show it was negative to add to your forms to get back home again.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-testing-for-people-travelling-to-england also includes an example of how to interpret three days, which should indicate how two days will be calculated:When to take your test
From 4am 7 December, you must take the test in the 2 days before your service to England departs. If your journey to England is a multi-leg journey, you must take the test in the 2 days before the start of the first leg.
Until 4am 7 December, you can take the test any time in the 3 days before the service on which you will arrive in England departs.
For example, if you travel directly to England on Friday, you could take a test any time on the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. The test result must be available for boarding.

For people reading this who have not travelled abroad recently what is supposed to and what actually happens are diametrically opposed.
The main reason for the disparity ?
There are no checks and balances, the system is not fit for purpose.1
