Good morning, doesn't seem too cold this morning. Our hunt for a different Christmas tree yielded nothing yesterday, so we'll get the old one out after all. One of DH's complaints was there was always far too much stuff on which made it a pain to take down after Christmas, but if we do it ourselves we won't put as much on as the kids did. Must admit it didn't bother me, we'll probably do it today.Someone will have to stay in today anyway, we're expecting a delivery. We had Dgs with us yesterday when we went to B&*, he liked it there, going round the aisles looking at all the different things on offer, he was particularly intrigued by a display of baths and toilets. Funny little thing.I've got a list to fulfil at the shops, and will Christmas-ify the dresser, didn't get it done yesterday.Thinking of our sad and poorly people, it can be hard at Christmas with all the jollity going on.All of my close family, i.e.parents,siblings and close in laws died between end November and mid January (not all in the same year) so I think about them more at this time of year.Hope everyone has as good a year as they can, take care folks13

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, wet and raining steadily, rain is forecast for the coming days.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and a brekkie bar. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had fishcakes and salad. Tonight I'm not sure what we'll be having.
I was productive yesterday - I just got going with my list and took it steady, Everything I aimed to get done I did, so pleased with that.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread Scarlet and hugs to all those in need.
Having a clear out today, I'm taking my dvds over to the shower block, not as mad as it sounds. People put books and dvds on the window sill in there. It's like a mini library.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.12 -
Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Feels milder here too but light rain is imminent according to the forecast.
Still no trimming up done but the cleaning in readiness for it is getting done bit by bit. I actually got as far as cleaning the downstairs windows yesterday! No mean feat considering the size of them. The upstairs ones may get done this afternoon.
This morning I am off on the first bus as usual but then plan on catching the bus to the next little town along. The three shops I want are in a little centre close to the bus stop making it much more manageable than here.
The hairdresser yesterday wasn't quite as scissor happy as she sometimes can be but took enough off to stop me resembling Freddie Boswell over Christmas. I will leave the roots for another week or so.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones, convalescing and bereaved. COXY I hope all goes well with your dear dad's op. Such a worry when he is so far away. Take care one and all and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Hi everyone,
We've been up since 5.30, neither of us could sleep any longer, we're just catching up on this weeks Masterchef.
The tree is up apart from the fairy on the top, the rest of the decorations are still to do but I'll take my time, I'm not sure whether to put them all out because Esben will probably be very attracted to some of the more delicate ones. Thankfully the covid doesn't seem to be affecting him too much but he can't understand why he can't go to the playground, he's a child who needs lots of exercise, like his mum before him.
I want to carry on deep cleaning the house, it's behind schedule because stayed longer at L & B's this week. Never mind, so long as it's done by our family Christmas on 17th December it will be fine. I also need to decide what we are eating for the next couple of days.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Morning all...Had to get up early to get the van back, but I can nap after. And I will. I definitely got the use out of it, four sets of people very happy. Me, I got my sofa and chairs, one set of friends got their fridge freezer and fence panel, one was happy to get rid of fridge freezer and one was happy to get rid of sofa and chairs and some other stuff I said I'll take to the tip for her. Managed to get some handles for the drawers from B&Q while we stopped for the fence panel as well as some quite cheap but thick tinsel. Also got some cat food from the big BM, not what they usually eat but the next best thing, think they're glad of the change to be honest, they're eating it anyway. And did my shopping in the SM, got my mince pies to send and some stollen for us, because I fancied something with marzipan. Got OH a new dressing gown and two jumpers. He's asked for the former for Christmas from his mother but she said she'd already got him something, this was after asking me what to get. And he has [only] two jumpers which are a bit past their best now, so now one can go to recycle and one can be worn around the house. We may take apart the old sofa today or we may leave it till tomorrow, I'm not feeling it today, everything is a bit creaky. OK,a lot creaky. But I'm promising my creaky joints a bit of greasing up with a bacon sandwich when I get back from dropping off the van. It's about as far as BM was the other day but at least only one way. Even if I don't want to do the sofa today, what I really want to do is hoover under it when it's gone. The though of the dust bunnies underneath it is playing on my mind, but I am also thinking well, at least with the new one, mice won't get trapped under it
Haven't got a tree yet, will leave it till next week when I have my car back.
Maddie, I had to laugh, I used to do the same at our stitch and B*tch, in the end, I just took things I wanted to take apart anyway...snoozer, good luck with the deep clean. I remember us always having to do it Christmas Eve when we were kids. TA, happy shopping...Hope you all have a day of what you need....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12 -
morning, dry here today. Slightly better news re family member as he has been moved fro HDU to a specialist ward. He is still confused but happier in the new ward. Again thank you for all the kind messages, it does help.
Tesco delivery this morning so I must clean out the fridge and organise the freezer. I must write some sort of meal plan to allow for my poor appetite due to the cancer. My ordering seems to have got a bit random.Cozy, hope your Dads op goes well8 -
Hi all,
Thanks for the start Scarlett.
Snoozer – glad all your tests were negative.
Maddiemay - yay to the discount code 😊
Poppy – good news about your loved one.
Taff – I get worn out just reading your posts, take it easy
Thanks for well wishes for DDad – he is remarkably calm given the circumstances.
I was woken by the rain. Not sleeping too well as I’m by myself but wanted to get up at a reasonable time today as I am going to B!uewater to break the back of our Christmas shopping. I have a very targeted list and have also realised I have two free drinks to claim at Co$ta.
We were meant to be collecting a car for DS2 (learner) today but it’s not back from the MOT garage yet. This is good news as given DH can’t leave the house, I would have needed to get a train, tram and shanksy’s pony to go collect it. We will go next Saturday instead.
I will make DH breakfast and leave him snacks and a flask. DS2 off to work at 2pm so he is on lunch duty. Only another 5 days to go…..
I used the food processor to whizz up two knobbler bread ends yesterday for breadcrumbs. Normally if I need breadcrumbs I fine grate a knobbler. Feeling very pleased with myself for something so simple. Breadcrumbs now in the freezer for future use.
Tonight’s food will be steak pies and veg. Will get a whole chicken out of the freezer this afternoon to defrost for tomorrow. Will also make an apple crumble. I’m doing a 10k charity walk tomorrow morning starting at 9am, so need to get organised today.
Have a good day everyone,
Coxy

Morning folks.Yesterday rain hammered down for most of the late evening and overnight, it sounded like shards of glass hitting the windows. The bread and cinnamon bun which I bought yesterday were so good (haven't eaten the bread yet). It was all still warm from their oven when I picked it up and smelled so blooming lovely. I'll certainly use them again. The bread will be sliced up today and put into the freezer. Then I had a long chat on the phone with an old friend, his conversation roamed between learning Gaelic, round sailing and the off towards politics of the 1930s. Very cheery indeed.Today I'm not doing any shopping. My midweek buys are still in the fridge so I don't need anything else. There's some mince to cook up, perhaps I'll make a smaller version of Mexican Tortilla Bake as a tasty change and use the rest of the meat as bolognaise.I have our our poorlies, missing and those who are sad on my mind. At the same time I'm working to keep myself from becoming maudlin or mawkish. I've stopped taking the meds as I felt myself sort of fading away, but probably a placebo effect made me feel better. The mind is a funny thing!Anyway...I'll light my stove and hope for a good old film to watch and wait for SCD. Happy Saturday to everyone.13

Morning All
A typical December morning, grey and damp. I've put the heating on as I didn't light the stove last night with going out, it's surprising how much heat it gives out during the night.
The wedding party was good, the bride looked really lovely and the groom wore a kilt. Lovely to see a wedding that hasn't cost thousands that has to be paid back. I had a few drinks and a dance or two, the music was really good, mostly 80's.
Off to the big city today for a meal with colleagues, I'm going to go on the train I think. I haven't been on a train for 2 years so am feeling a little anxious about it. If I go in the car it will cause too much stress!
Hope your Dad's OK Coxy.
I'm worn out reading about your day taff!
Pleased to hear your relative is improving poppy.
Thinking of those with worries and woes.
Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX12
