This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, wet underfoot but cold, rain forecast for the coming days.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was chicken wrapped in bacon, new potatoes, veg and gravy. Tonight will be something quick and easy with chips.
Yesterday I was pleased to finish work for my days off. The incident is being dealt with by management and an appropriate response is being made.
Today I have the normal "to do" list to work my way through - but it will be a steady potter this week - what doesn't get done - doesn't and can wait for another day.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC. You'll be glad of a few days off.I hadn't realised when I got up yesterday that it was snowing, there was quite a covering, which has practically gone now. We are sheltered here though, in our little town. We've put the decorations up and will go on a tree hunt this morning, taking dgs. There's a couple of friends coming round tonight, and that's about it for today, apart from the usual jobs.Thinking of our poorly people and those struggling with life.Take care folks.14

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
I it was -2 here for most of yesterday but it's meant to be milder today.
The supermarket delivery arrived on time so we are well dog med up with food.
I ordered a free standing shelf unit for the kitchen work surface to reduce the clutter but I still can't decide what to do about the cupboard door that won't open.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.13 -
Popped back with a couple of things I meant to say - Poppy, I'm so sorry to hear your news, thinking of you, and Csarina. Also, TA, I'm in full agreement with you about Christmas, and so is my DH, we just put decorations up for the Dgc's really, and we've only got 2 young ones now.Earlier this week we were saying we couldn't be bothered to put any up at all, but it's done now. Tbh, and without wanting to be a misery, we are both glad when it's over.15

Morning All
Damp out this morning but milder than the last few days. At least the wind has dropped, it would have cut you in two.
Scarlet, I'm with you and the decorations, it always seems a lot of hassle but I do quite like decorating the tree with decorations from years gone by, brings back happy memories.
Hope Esben is OK, and the rest of the family.
Wedding celebrations tonight and a Christmas meal out with some colleagues tomorrow, haven't been out for ages and two things in one weekend!
Thinking of you all, missing tru and the carols. How are you and the horses Mehefin?
Happy Friday, take care. XX13 -
Morning folks.Glad I'm not alone in the Christmas thing. The advent crown and the wee calendar are enough for me.I'm reluctant to move from my bed, it's very cold outside, the sky is cloudless and full of twinkling stars so I'm enjoying just looking at them.Yesterday I had the stove on all day so I'll need to vacuum out the ash today. Somehow I got myself stuck in front of the stove for most of the day. 🤭 Only spoke to the postman briefly so all was quiet. Last night I decided to shower before bed rather than face having it in the morning, I really enjoyed it as the place wasn't as cold as first thing. And it was really lovely getting into a warm bed afterwards - it reminded me of the days when I was a young child having a bath before bed then finding a hot water bottle in the bed. This morning I'll be having my weekly chat with those in Oz to start my day. Their moans about the heat go over my head now. 😃 Later I'm heading a little way up the road to the big marina to collect some locally made bread. I like to support small local businesses when I can. The bread I usually buy from a wee deli in town comes up from Glasgow, it's very tasty but a lot of miles so I'm hoping that the local one is just as tasty.Take care today, especially our poorlies. Happy Friday to everyone.PS - who is flying off to Oz very soon Sunday?) Sorry, forgot but I wish you a fabulous trip.13

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It sounds like work are on top of things for a change.
My heart sank when I looked out last night to see it snowing again. I thought we were in for a re-run of last weekend but. thankfully, by this morning, it had gone and now just looks damp. At the risk of sounding like a stuck record I hate winter and spring sounds a long way off yet!
Thanks to this blessed cold I only got as far as cleaning the kitchen and bathroom yesterday before I threw in the towel! I was sick of sneezing and blowing my nose and retreated under my heated throw for the afternoon and dozed off! Rudolph and his red nose has nowt on me! Today I must try harder as I am way behind with Christmas plans.
I will have an interruption at lunchtime as a text asked me if it was ok for the hairdresser to come today. I would have preferred a little nearer Christmas but hey ho I have gone with the flow as the others on her little round said it was ok and I didn't want her making a special journey over just for me.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones, convalescing and bereaved. Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Good morning,
Thanks for the thread nmlc. Enjoy your days off and hope you get everything done but also get a chance to rest!
Snoozer – sorry to hear about little Esben. I hope his symptoms are mild x
I used to love Christmas when the children were young, but it definitely takes on a different meaning when you’ve lost loved ones and are missing them. We have (a few ahem) artificial trees – used to have one in the hallway and one in the lounge. Planning one tree this year, and some mantlepiece decorations. I also have several Christmas cross stitched designs I’ve done over the years which replace the usual pictures on the wall. May make a start this weekend.
My PCR test has come back negative, so poor DH will need to stay in DDs room until Wednesday! He is able to work from there and has a tablet for Netf!ix in the evening. Plus his maid to bring him food and drink! The weekend is going to be challenging….
Heard yesterday that DDad is to have open heart surgery on Tuesday which is the birthday of my late nephew - triggering. This op was postponed from August as when they took him in for pre-tests they discovered lung cancer. Spoke to him last night and he is remarkably calm, but I can’t help but worry. Added complication in that he lives abroad.
Dinner tonight is prawn curry, rice and naan. Cleared the ironing last night, but have the joys of bathrooms and general housework to look forward to after work, to allow me a weekend free of jobs.
Thinking of dumpling’s family, csarina, poppy and all others who could generally do with a bit of support. Keep safe and well everyone.

Snoozer hope Esben is on the mend
I am another one that really can't be bothered with Christmas presents and food is fine but the thought of dragging decorations and putting them up and putting them away is just overwhelming.
Right better get on hoovering today as its my one and only day to myself
Hugs to all our poorlies and those with worries stay safe ,warm and dry xxxSlava Ukraini13
