Hi everyone,
Steve, Laura and I's pcr tests came back negative, Brian went up later and hasn't heard yet. Esben seems to be over the worst of what was a very mild infection (touch wood). They'd booked to see Father Christmas today so have had to cancel that and even worse he had a hospital appointment on Tuesday. Brian's just messaged, he is also negative.
Steve isn't feeling great and was convinced he had it but he is a bit of a hypochondriac since he found out he had cancer. I suppose it's understandable but his mind immediately jumps to worst case scenario rather than likeliest, I get tired of talking him down from his ideas. I'm the opposite, I do think the worst but rarely say it out loud and tell myself it's something minor, usually correctly.
The kitchen looks like a bombs hit it and we have only been home a few hours. I left it tidy when we went away but we were both too tired to do more than cook a quick meal last night so that's to do this morning, along with getting the living room ready for the tree and putting that up.
Have a good day.14 -
Morning
It hasn't really got light here looks pretty miserable out there
Coxy that must be hard with your dad living abroad I hope all goes well with the op
Gers I am very envious of your local bakery I would love some local independents but sadly they are few and far between here and never last long
Yesterday I managed my goals to reach the outside bin without hitting the deck Yeah to me. You wouldn't know how much I miss being able to do normal things without such a palaver.
Today I need to sort a wash out and have a tidy in the kitchen but not too much more so a film is on the books.
I have a large cornish pasty out for dinner so I'll have that with beans later. The doctor has changed my prescription back to the pre hospital visit and its sorted all the reflux out instantly so Im back to enjoying food again
Talking of Christmas decs I feel very grinchy today as my neighbour opposite has literally festooned his whole house with orange flashing lights which he then leaves on all night. Despite having shutters in the bedroom I can see them flashing and I need dark to sleep properly. Must have plenty of money to keep them on all night for weeks. Last night I lay there plotting how to fuse them
carolbee you always say you have nothing to say but you do. If you read above you will see this thread is about the mundane things as well as the odd excitement like bin day so lets see you posting sometimes
Have a good day all

Morning all
Pouring with rain here but meant to dry up later, I had a lovely lay in bed till 8.30 and am now just sitting with a cup of tea, will get some toast and marmite after this.
Nels dont tell me offbut I have put a wash on and that will go in the td later and I need to empty the dw and tidy the lounge, this will take me about 1/2 hr and then I will get the dogs out for a walk, I fully intend to be on the sofa with the log burner roaring watching a film (and probably a snooze) by lunch time.
Egg bacon and sausage for dinnner with some bread and butter so a nice easy dinner. Tomorrow I have to take mum to the hospital for an appointment re her eyes, if she is ok I will nip into M & S on the way home and get a few bits for my last Xmas present, I buy my in laws a 'hamper' which I make up myself of really nice food bits and a bottle of something fizzy, they are not short of a few bob but will only shop in cheap shops so I get them things like a small xmas cake, some nice cheese and bics, chocolates, mince pies etc and wrap them all up individually and put in a Christmas box or bag, they love opening it and it gives them a nice treat.
I absolutly love Christmas, I love the tree going up and the decorations, the food and the giving and recieving of gifts, and family getting together, I am still a big kid I think
Have good days all and stay safe and warm xxx12 -
Morning, busy day yesterday, we now have a small table in the kitchen which is much easier to move. The gate leg dining table is in the sitting room under the window. DGS and family were here until just before 12. Little Miss was busy helping Daddy, she really is cute.
Its windy and a bit grey this morning. Gardener is due this afternoon if it stays fine, DB wants him to help him put the grease ands on the fruit trees and also get the plum tree in. I have given up moving the pots etc in the back garden. Its just too cold for me to be outside. It looks like it will have to wait till the spring.
I ordered a new 10.5 tog duvet for our bed, it arrived late yesterday so I will put it on the bed when I go through to make it, we still had the summer duvet on with a blanket and the quilt on top. I also ordered some long sleeved night wear, cannot stand cold arms.
I do appreciate the continued support, Christmas was always such a lovely time, now I can barely put decs on the hall dresser and a couple of Christmas candle holders in the sitting room. We had to wait such a long time for Nicholas's funeral December and January are very dark months.
Not much planned for the day except to keep warm. Supper is fish and chips as usual.11 -
A shooting star this morning, and watchful owl. Despite the very clear twinkly sky earlier the grey clouds are now filling the space and I've had to put on the living room light.Good news about all the clear tests, it's always a worry.I've cleaned out and reset the stove though it's actually fairly mild outside, not what I was expecting at all. My short trip to the small barn was most pleasant. My call to Oz was short and sweet, only so much chat about covid that I can take these days.Ruby - it's lovely to know that you are a Christmas bunny, I enjoyNelski - the small independent bakery in town isn't that good. I tried the goods there and was really disappointed. The deli brings up bread and pastries from Glasgow. One of my favourite places in Glasgow has won a national award for the cakes and pastries (Bakery of the Year: Broken Clock Cafe & Patisserie), I'm so chuffed for the owner and his team. The place I'm going to later is a cafe which only bakes bread once a week. I'll report back!

Morning...I've just put the heating on for a bit, no point in making a fire, I'll be [hopefully] in and out all day. Having a normal sofa and chairs is going to be weird, we're so used to making do with what we have and not doing anything in the house, it'll be like a new room. The old sofa , an L shaped thing I've had for a long time [since i moved into the flat] has springs poking through and doesn't fit the room at all but for me it is very comfotable. I sit with my legs out in the L bit, OH calls it my throne...I have plans to go shopping too, I want some mince pies to send to my friend in Spain, and I've put in some hot sauces for her daughter who likes blow your head off chilli sauces.Going to the BM down the road wasn't too bad after, except they didn't have any cat food at all...I checked out prices elsewhere online, bit of a shocker, they were triple or more the price. The cats will just have to have a go slow until I can get some from the other one hopefully later on. I think I have a mental block about excercise or walking more than absolutely necessary. I don't enjoy going for walks, and I know that when I do, any slight incline immediately results in knackeredness. I did have a numb leg, cronky ankle and was a bit wobbly when I got back but hey, still here. Made a new mental note - must try harder. Did the hoovering upstairs before taking the chest of drawers up, in pieces obviosuly, although I did have an iffy moment with the carcasse [ the handles are going to have to wait although I did have designs on an old leather belt of OHs for handles..] we've got bare floorboards, I had to empty it twice there was so much fluff and dust under everything. My car part turned up yesterday, hooray! so it's booked in for Tuesday to fix. That means no having to hire a car, so yay, saved some money there. Onwards and stuff for today...snoozer, good to hear he had it mildly. Ruby, enjoy your long weekend! I watched Last Christmas last night good for an easy watch,,bit of crying, bit of laughing, nice gentle film. Nelski, happy not hitting the deck day! Any positive is a thing to be celebrated....TA, do you really need to try harder though? If you're ill, you're ill, let yourself get better first...Izzy, enjoy your trip tomorrow, report back on the christmas market! Coxy, that's good for you, hope your DH has it as mildly as he can...thinking about dumpling and her family still, it's going to be a painful time...I'm orf, second cup of tea awaits.. raise some glasses...it IS Friday after all....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11

Good morning
Thinking of all the people who have lost loved ones or dealing with their own struggles. It will be the first Christmas since losing my Father 🕯
I managed to wrap most of the Christmas presents 🎁 yesterday, will try and write the Christmas cards over the weekend. I have done a few cross stitch cards for people who will appreciate them so just need ro make them up.
Have been to the hairdressers this morning to get rid of my roots, had quite a bit cut off too.
Some cleaning and ironing to do later.
Have as good a day as possible 🌻9 -
Not been on here since Tuesday. On Wednesday it was back to masks at friendship/lunch club.
I actually started to make Christmas cards yesterday - have to do 80 as Mr F needs business ones as well as family/friends/neighbours.
Poppy - condolences on your loss. Such a sad time.
Dumpling will be so missed on mse and by her family and friends.
Gers - I remember the Advent calendars that were Christmas pictures behind the doors and the Nativity as the final one.
Sad news here too - a lovely lady at my former Church lost her 46 year old daughter on Tuesday. Someone I worked with years ago lost her son aged 53 suddenly last week.
Our neighbours both have Covid but seem to be having a mild case.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Once again the day is well over before I got myself organised to post.
Had a busy week organising special food, supplements and healthy food for DDog, also better masks to use when we have to go out and about, also a few things that we regularly use/need making the most of BF and CB reductions.
We are not really fussed about Christmas here either, will put the small artificial tree up in the sitting room, a door wreath and a few lights to brighten the dark days, but not until a couple of days before the main event. I only have 3 actual presents to buy, the rest get money or vouchers.
Had a great time at Knit N Natter yesterday, just 8 of us, lots of talking, fun and passing on of helpful thoughts, not so much knitting as most of us end up going home and undoing the afternoon's efforts - lack of concentration. A friend and I chatted about a company that we both buy clothing from occasionally, I mentioned a sale brochure I had and things I intended ordering from it, today she texted me with a code she received today which saved me another £10 (happy face and wallet)
Sending hugs and spoons to all that need some including Poppy, Csarina, Dumpling's family, Nelski, TA willing your cold to do a runner asap, Little Esben and all who will be missing loved ones at their celebrations, several first anniversaries amongst us.
Take care all.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)11
