@Doozergirl sorry to jump on the post but how much roughly would it cost to do this work? We've got the same issue in our house and going to try and get some quotes next year.0

Just to say that Saniflos are far from ideal, but they are not the beasts that some people make them out to be. Mother in law installed one in her bungalow 20 years ago, and we have just replaced it. So, it’s lasted pretty well, and it’s not very noisy at all. On the other hand it’s installed on a solid floor which must help with the noise.
The replacement cost £700 plus VAT, including installation. I mentioned that so you have some idea of the extra cost involved.
The pump handles the toilet waste as well as the bath and basin waste. So it’s going to run whilst you wash your hands, for example. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?3 -

i think that it would be worth it to the house value to put the shower room/bath upstairs. If you steal 1.7metres from Bed 2, you have a perfect British bathroom. It reduces both bedrooms but bed 2 stays a reasonable double and bed 3, whilst becoming smaller again to about 1.9 by 3metres, it frees up space for a 2 metres wall of built in storage on the landing, some of which could be dedicated to the owner of bed 3.The shower room downstairs becomes a 'proper' loo and you open up your kitchen into more space and light coming through.
i think it would improve the value of almost any house like this, in almost any area that has even slightly below average house prices.Whether the new bathroom
can run directly to a 4 inch waste pipe will
depend on the location of the current SVP, but it isn't outside the realms of possibility. I've also lived with a Saniflo for a long time and it really isn't the end of the world at all.0 -

Many people are put off by downstairs only bathrooms. The benefit to the kitchen downstairs will be great.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Just to update. We've decided to go for just a wc upstairs as the kids LOVE their big bedrooms and I felt so unsure about taking space away from them as we plan to stay here around 10 years so they'll be in their mid to late teens and I want them to have their own space and be able to have sleepovers etc. However we have discovered that our house has a full set of stairs leading to the attic. Quirky Victorian Terrace. So that's interesting. They were hidden by a stud wall in our bedroom cuboard. Which used to be a landing. So maybe we'll do something up there one day. But not for now. I've got my heart set on a new kitchen if we can afford it after the bathroom Reno and wc. Oh and a fullrewire as our electrics are ancient. Think all sockets on the skirting and no sideboard. But that's fine we got the house for a steal.0
