Various parts of the house need painting but I'm waiting untill friend's house is finished and the HT is back in college so that I can do as much as possible and give it a chance to dry without anyone touching it 🙄
I was back at the house of my friend that died for a couple of hours last night. It wasn't in my plan for the day but the other lady had lost her keys so I had to go and let her in. I also wanted a patio rose in a pot from the back garden that belonged to my friend's mum to put on friend's grave. Other lady was supposed to be taking some of my friend's artwork for storage but turned up in a very small car that already had some chairs in it.... I collected the rose though so at least that is sorted.
The HT and I didn't have dinner until late last night when I came home from friend's house. We actually sat together downstairs to eat and we watched trash tv for an hour or so too. In the winter we tend to bring everything upstairs because it's warmer up here so that's a real sign of the warmer weather coming. We do still watch tv together in winter, we just sit on the HT's bed with his extra blankets over us and a fidgety cat getting in then out then in then.......
MSE things - even though it was late we made dinner at home. I have also turned the heating off it's auto programme. If it's that cold we can turn it on manually for half an hour here and there.
Take care all of you 😊4 -
I'm fairly sure that rain today wasn't on the weather guess last week. Given that the predicted heatwave didn't appear yesterday I decided that dry definitely meant gardening and I'd do cleaning and baking today. A wise decision as it turns out because it's been bucketing down here this morning and even if it stops the bottom of the garden will be like a swamp.
Today's activities will therefore be baking brownies and some oat cookies, making rhubarb crumble and cleaning the living room. I'd also like to do some crochet for a bit of "me" time. The HT was in and out with his friends all day yesterday so the roast dinner that I was going to make has been postponed until this evening.
MSE stuff - I'm not going anywhere or spending anything today and the rhubarb was free from the garden 😁

Pouring with rain here too today. The upside of the glorious sunshine disappearing as fast as it came is that the horrific state of the patio doors isn't quite as visible. The glass is filthy and there's a big cobweb on one of the outside corners. It was on my list to clean them today but they'll have to wait for better weather.

It cleared up here for a couple of hours but we have thunder now. I also saw some sparrows taking a bath in the flower bed furthest away from the house 🙄2

We had sideways rain at one point this afternoon 😱 It’s been a proper mixed bag torrential rain, sunshine and wind. Typical bank holiday weather!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

I think it must have rained with us through much of yesterday evening and night - we've got puddles on the grass out the front again this morning! I was lovely to start the day yesterday here, then it rained o me at lunchtime, and rained on me again as I cycled back to the car after work. I get the sneaking feeling today may pan out similarly...

It's been an interesting week. The HT went out with his friends on Thursday evening. At 11:30pm I had a text to say he'd lost his door key. Luckily there's no trace of an address on it. He said he'd left it on the bus but it hasn't been handed in. He arrived home at 4:45am absolutely fuming. He'd given his friend his phone to mind and she'd gone home at 1am without saying goodbye. His bank card and ID were in his phone case so he had no money, no ID and no means of contacting me. One of his other friends bought him a drink and made sure that he got home safely - I gave her our spare airpods (cheap not the ones that the famous fruit brand sell) on Friday to say thank you as she dropped hers down the toilet last week and they don't work any more. I also paid for the two of them to have Maccies to cure their hangovers/say thank you for being sensible and staying together.
We did go and collect his phone on Friday morning - friend who took it home was very apologetic. She is also without a phone as she left hers on the same bus as the HT left his keys on. Their problems seem to be due to calling for a friend whose dad has built a bar in the garden before they went on the bus. They also (there were about 8 of them altogether) drank the HT's christmas bottle of Sambuca before they left for the bright lights🙄 hence the hangovers. I'm sure I have some extra grey hairs and it should stop him saying "I'm an adult now" for a couple of weeks at least.
Grocery spends for April are £167.93 which is £17.93 over budget. I'm fairly sure that I can pull this back in the remaining two weeks as the overspend was due to the Easter holidays and the HT (with friends) being home for most meals. This weeks order which is coming today is £49.69 so £82.38 left for the rest of the month. The freezer is still very full.... I've told the HT that we have to eat what's in the house for the rest of the month. Best friend's house renovations are nearly finished so I should be home more after next week and can start making dinners that take longer than 20 minutes to cook.
Take care all of you 😊

Oh my goodness, to be that young again! Even remembering the things we did puts me in a cold sweat and we were good kids, definitely not rebels 🤭 I’m glad it had a happy ending.

Some of the things I did when I was young it’s a miracle I’m still here 😱 I don’t miss the going out days of my two when they were teens. DS is dreading it with the GKs but he can’t say anything as he was a pain when he was a teenager.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

Oh dear Cranky - still, it should all give you plenty of leverage ready for the "but I'm an adult now" calls to start up again!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
