Thanks all of you. My friend's funeral isn't until next week and I've offered to help the friend in charge of bequests sort some of the house out. I'm not looking forward to it but there's no way I could leave her to do it on her own.
I think the lady who did the PIP consultation was bored by the time we got to the mobility bit. I've tried using a walking stick but the problem is that my hypermobile joints are arthritic so a walking stick just hurts my hand and my shoulder. The physiotherapist has referred me to orthapaedics as I need both of my knee joints replacing, sigh. She did keep saying that I didn't want them done as I'm so young but I think she's realised what a huge impact it's having on my life.
No looked after person today as my best friend has given me covid. I called round to friend's house yesterday to clear out his fridge as he's been in bed since Wednesday and isn't eating. He managed to stay up for an hour while I was there and I made him some toast and a drink and then he had to go back to bed. I did the test when I came home because I should have been working today and I thought I should check. I think I have a mild dose because I've had colds worse than this.
On the plus side we should use up some of the food in the freezer as I can't go shopping for more. We have plenty and enough cat food to last the rest of the week too. Onwards and upwards.....
Take care all of you 😊3 -
Hi Cranky
So sorry to hear about your friend, heartbreaking news.
Also your mobility issues sound very difficult , being in pain is exhausting.
I'm not good at meal planning, I don't know what i want to eat on Thursday let alone today .... I try to have ingredients in for a few different meals then choose out of those what to have

I'm glad that you've started posting again Cranky.Sorry to hear about your health issues and condolences on the loss of your friend. You sound like you were there for them and you can take comfort from that, although that's still hard for you now.Well done on being debt neutral - that's a great position to be in. You've worked hard to get there and you should be proud of yourself.4

Oh heck Cranky I'm so sorry to hear about your friend - what an awful thing. And your mobility issues too - fingers crossed the PIP will get sorted and you'll be able to use it to help with making life a little easier.

Thanks everyone. I've had to cancel my physio appointment tomorrow - that was to be assessed for a walking aid. I have another appointment in 2 weeks time. I'm still feeling ok ish - I'm up and dressed and yesterday I did the gardens, both back and front so they look better than they did.
I've been to see friend that gave me covid this afternoon. He's been really poorly with it. I've watered his garden and dead headed things too. The HT should still have antibodies hopefully but we're being careful anyway. At least by haviing it now I'll be clear for the funeral next week.3 -
Sorry to hear about your friend, that must be hard to deal with. 🙁
Glad to hear you’re not feeling too bad with covid, it definitely seems to be about more again.

I went to best friend's house again yesterday and shifted the "put it together yourself" raised bed that he has had delivered from the front to the back garden. It was ordered before he felt ill and I'm not building it on my own but it can sit in the back as long as it needs too. He's still quite poorly and he's been ill longer than I have but he has D&V which about 1/3 of people that catch covid have apparently. I'm going round to have a go at cutting the grass in his back garden today. That should be a laugh - it hasn't been done for ages.
I had salad leaves from the garden for dinner (my garden) and I picked another small tub of raspberries. They're in the fridge just now but they'll probably end up in the freezer ready for jam making when I get round to it. Small things but the leaves were grown from seeds and the raspberry bush is thornless which is an extra bonus.
Take care all of you 😊5 -
Hello all,
Best friend and I have survived covid and he is finally starting to feel better. We started building his raised bed yesterday at last and hopefully we'll have it finished tomorrow. I can't do anything to it today as I have Looked After Person. There's still no given date for LAP going into residential accomodation so for now I'm making the most of having a job and trying to pay as much off my debt as possible. Total amount owing as of today is £3499.99. That's a vast improvement on when I had my lightbulb moment.
The cat had her jabs yesterday - she's on a "paid for life" plan. I paid £200 back when she was about 3 and that covers her jabs and an annual health check for as long as she lives. We think she has asthma and the vet has agreed to try steroids to see if that stops her cough. I was pleasantly surprised that a 2 months supply was only £16 - I was expecting it to cost a lot more.
The HT has finished college for the summer so my petrol is lasting a bit longer than usual thank goodness. The whole petrol/gas/electric thing is worrying isn't it? I have no idea how families that were previously living exactly to their means are going to find an extra £200-£300 per month to keep warm this winter. I've told the HT that we'll be reading by candles and wearing all of our clothes at once and I'm only half joking.....
I have lettuce, beetroot, chard and courgettes growing in the garden as well as raspberries, blackberries and rhubarb. I need to google "a million ways with rhubarb" as I've picked a good few pounds from it and it's back at waist height already. I've put the raspberries in the freezer for jam making later in the year. Hopefully all this will help me in some small way to stick to our budget.
Take care all of you 😊5 -
Good morning all,
I've been out and watered the garden already. Still dull and overcast here (Merseyside) but warming up. I've been mean and switched the cats heated mat off too 😁 Fairly sure that she will be looking for the complaints department at some point today. I tried crushing her half tablet in liquid cat treat yesterday but guess what was the only thing left in her bowl this morning? I put this mornings half tablet into her the hard way after I'd had breakfast to get my strength up 😂
I've picked another small tub full of raspberries but I'll leave the rhubarb until tomorrow as LAP's mum would like some. Just pondering what we can have for dinner tonight. I think I'll cook some chicken as I can have mine with salad and the HT can have his with potatoes and beans. I'm going to do a bit of raised bed building at my friend's house this afternoon. It'll be "build half a side then in for a drink" and so on. I'd like to see it finished today before the stupid hot weather starts.
Take care all of you 😊4
