Credit check via Goodlord...am i over-worrying!?

Good afternoon all!
I'll try my best to keep this brief but i'm posting because the worry is absolutely killing me!
I've just submitted my application to the housing group (the prospective landlords) to rent on a rent-to-buy scheme. The next step is to do the relevant references via Goodlord. One of the references/checks is the dreaded credit check! The pre-application form asked if i had any CCJ's- i don't, or any adverse credit....ah! Here's where it gets a bit foggy. Goodlords definition of adverse credit (going off their site), is CCJ's, IVA's, DRO's or insolvencies...of which i have none. As a result i correctly selected no.
Unfortunately my credit history isn't the best, my score is low and i have a few defaults (none since 2019). I have also missed a few payments in the last 12 months due to lost income thanks to my partner being furloughed. Now most would consider that to be adverse credit, but not by the above definition. According to the goodlord site, a SOFT credit search is carried out for the credit check. Would this show any of my missed/late payments? If so how likely is it they'll mark me as an unsuitable tenant?
An article on 'checkmyfile' stated a soft search will only return public info in regards to credit. Typically, this conflicts with other sites which mention the search would include missed/late payments etc? I'm really not up to speed on what's public and what isn't!
We're pretty much putting all our hopes into getting this property as it'll be a major turning point for us and allow us to effectively get on the ladder in the near future, hence the level of worry.
If anyone has any similar experience or has any answers, it'd much appreciated.
