Setting these observations aside let me give you some numbers:

I've 10mths of visit data to their app download site covering Jan to Oct 2021. I got this from a couple of web analytics sites that allow a free trial. The app download site saw nearly 4 million visits in that time, 45% of which were single page views. As you'd only expect to download the app once, I'd speculate that there were 2.2m to 4m new members in this time
Hope that gives people something solid to think about.

It's certainly something to think about. I've no way to know if those numbers are correct or not but I wouldn't expect that you'd get 50%-100% of page visits resulting in a sign up to be a member. The 45% single page visits could just be someone that clicked on a link saw what it was and walked away. I might be wrong but I suspect those numbers are probably higher than actual members by quite a large factor. If they got 10% sign ups from page views that would probably be a good result for them although that's still a significant number of people lured in.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

The old mailshot direct marketing used to work off something like 1 or 2% hit rate.

I understand your point and should perhaps emphasise that I've deliberately  just used visits to the app download. Traffic to their main website is very much higher, approx. 18.7m visits in the last 6mths according to Traffic Checker. Google Trends also indicates search interest from 62 counties, including low volume regions. In this light 2.2m to 4m new members over the last 10mths might not be considered unreasonable. Someone going by the name of Hope Hill and claiming to be their compliance officer was banding about a figure of 500k members back around May. This seemed to tie in with the a higher conversion rate for the download page, but that's the best I've been able to do to validate the numbers.
  • I wouldn't want to invest in a HyperFund, that doesn't sound dynamic enough for me. I'd want it to be at least a GigaFund and ideally an UltraGigaFund in order to guarantee sufficiently outsize profits in a rapid fashion.

Pirelli surely need to be a bit more creative than that. They could look at boxing weight divisions for an example of how to do it. You could have Silksoft, Feathersoft, Soft, Hard, Concretehard, Diamondhard, Chuck Norris.
For those that are interested, Hyperfund has already collapsed and the OP's thieving friends have probably already lost their money. Withdrawals were disabled a couple of weeks ago. The scam is changing its name to "HyperVerse" due to the huge number of regulatory warnings that have piled up.
