My Dad just agree'd to a new fix without checking, 25p/kwh electric and 5.4p/kwh Gas!!
I've told him to go back to his old fix and just let it run out on to a SVR.4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.1 -
those prices are HIGH and you are locked into them. I think you would be mad to go for them. The cap is being reassessed in april. thats 5 months away. so your heaviest use of gas and electric will be on a rate way above current cap.2

I don't think you've had an answer, but yes, the cap only applies to the "default" variable rate tariff. Suppliers are free to offer fixed-rate or other variable-rate tariffs at whatever level they choose.Ady_M_P said:Thanks all. I think I know what to do! Hopefully prices won’t go up even more before February. So does the cap only apply if you’re on a variable rate?

I'm same boat as the OP, well not really since the April offer expired 01/12/21. Having had a look, the offer was considerably better than if I run through quote with BG today. It's taken quite a bit of digging but I think I've unearthed the "default" variable rate tariff (attached) and this looks to be higher than the April offer but a fair bit cheaper than new quote. Anyway, my fix doesn't end until end of Jan, we'll see how things progress. . .

Thanks. I have now cancelled and should revert to previous tariff soon. Although I bet they take longer than they took to switch me over?! Should I get refunded for the days I was on the higher price tariff? I listened to Martin Lewis last night, who also said do nothing. I.e. let fixed expire and go onto SVR.1

I am in the same boat as I have the same tariff and renewal offer. I will definitely not be renewing until the new year when I will have to review the options.

How many now wish they had entered this 2 year lock til Aug 2023 and are kicking themselves.
Even ML said no to it, hindsight is brill0 -
My only "regret" is that I actually decided to go for it but clicked on the email link to sign up for it a day after it expired.0
