HMRC refund request from 2007!

I have today received an overpayment of tax credits notification of £115 dating back to 2007!
Is this right? I’ve no way of checking the details with it being so long ago.

I would suggest you ask HMRC for their calculation; how have they arrived at this figure.
The Tax Credit legislation allows HMRC to go back as far as the introduction of tax credits to recover any overpayments.

Are you absolutely sure that this is from HMRC and not some type of scam? Definitely contact HMRC and ask them to supply details as to why this demand is correct1
