Used Audi - Can I negotiate ?

I have seen a 2017 car I am interested in purchasing (cash) directly from Audi Used (a different town), MOT recently expired, 55,000 miles, 190bhp.
I have also seen the same 2017 car at a Traders, albeit 140bhp, 40,000 miles, 10 months MOT. Both immaculate. £500 less with Audi Used.
I would prefer to purchase the one from Audi Used.
I am trading in my 'very' old Audi for scrappage.
Can I negotiate with Audi Used:
a) To complete MOT (due by Jan 22)
b) 4 X Michelin tyres
There is also the question of GAP Insurance, which ordinarily I wouldn't purchase (from them at least) which I could use as elbow maybe?
Is this possible or do 'Audi Used' set the price as is ?
(just wanted thoughts before I discuss with them)
TIA.

I would expect the Audi Used vehicle to come with a fresh MOT, not one that expires in under 2 months. Regarding the tyres, then either negotiating some money off the sticker price or a set of tyres should be straightforward. Seems like a very reasonable request.
Start the ball rolling by getting a test drive.1 -
You can ask whatever you like; if you feel brave ask if you can have it for nothing.
But in car buying everything is up for grabs and if you don't ask you don't get.
Used cars are apparently in demand these days and there is a trend to dealers not shifting from the screen price, but that doesn't mean you can't try it on. Dealers routinely face that question so won't be put out by it.1 -
"Scrappage" offers are often linked to new car sales only - I can't find a "scrappage" offer on the Audi website for either new or used cars (but it was only a quick look so that does not mean there definitely is not a "scrappage" offer available).
If your car is truly at scrap point, you may find that your negotiating position is better by keeping the old car out of the deal. Sometimes, taking an old car can cost the Dealer more than it is worth.2 -
If this is genuinely an Approved Used Audi then 12m MOT is given and cash is not necessarily your friend - read up on the scheme before you start negotiating
Chances are there'll be deals on finance (albeit at 9.9%) giving 2yrs warranty/2yrs servicing - assuming you qualify for credit then much better to take that and pay off after any minimum period to avoid interest but still maintaining the benefits
Unless the tyres need changing I can't imagine you having luck with your specifics - and even if you do then it'll probably be with a brand of their choosing (often Nexen in Audi dealers in my neck of the woods)1 -
Just a couple of things to point out.
Is the non Audi dealer selling a 140hp car or a 140kW as 140kW = 190hp?
Have you looked at the benefits of the Audi Approved scheme?
12 months Audi warranty
12 months roadside assistance
MOT cover
etc.
There's value and peace of mind with the Audi Approved car but as others have said you can always ask for a better deal.Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.1 -
..as previous threads on the subject, all cars seem to be at a premium at he mo and it is unlikely you will get anything...but there is no harm in trying!

Thanks all - great advice here!
Genuine Approved Used Audi (Derby) - all being well 12m MOT included then.
Non-Audi dealer - to be more specific is 148bhp.
Approved Used Audi - 188bhp.Grumpy_chap said:"Scrappage" offers are often linked to new car sales only - I can't find a "scrappage" offer on the Audi website for either new or used cars (but it was only a quick look so that does not mean there definitely is not a "scrappage" offer available).

I haven't mentioned it yet, so this is useful to know, thanks Grumpy_chap. I can always sell for scrap separately.
She's a 1998 A6 Avant - going to break my heart this one either way! :-( Rust is the devil.k3lvc said:If this is genuinely an Approved Used Audi then 12m MOT is given and cash is not necessarily your friend - read up on the scheme before you start negotiating

You can tell I haven't done this for a long time!! I may have jumped the gun here - have taken half in a 2yr 0% loan - purely just to have more control (& no interest!), would be looking to pay it off within 8/9 months . Plus other half in savings. Im not averse to car finance, just don't relish the thought of 4 years extra direct debits in this current climate! Credit (score) is all good (homeowner, etc, 1 CC used for essentials), + the above ive just taken last month. How would the finance work in theory as I (clearly) assumed there would be some interest ?0 -
Work out which gap policy you need and get quotes online.
I got a pre reg 5008 with 8 miles on the clock.
My 5 year policy was £200 and was a like for like cover.
Would have given enough to buy a new model,1 owner 3 months old with 8 miles etc.1 -
Why do you want 4 Michelin tyres? How worn are the tyres that are already on it?1

This was a few years now, but when I bought my used Renault Zoe, the first thing I did was ensure I was getting a car from a dealer at the lower end of the price curve. Spent about 6months researching and understanding prices, both new and used so when a good car at a good price came up I was ready. There is (or rather was) huge variation in price for the same car. The good priced cars come and go quickly, so don't just to with what's on the market right now. The badly priced ones are the ones you see! Set up alerts and be patient if you can.
I was able to haggle a few hundred quid off the sticker price, but then had to use finance to get additional discount (in form of a deposit contribution) and also came with 2 free services. I simply settled the finance the next day so incurred little interest charges and kept the perks. You will need to see if Audi finance are offering any incentives on their approved used finance.1
