This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, dry underfoot but cold and frosty start to the day, no snow here and rain is forecast.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast pork, was lovely and no LO's except yorkshires - will use them as part of another meal. Back to work today and a heavy week - so hoping we get the back up support I've been told we'll be getting. We'll see.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Cold this morning but the car doesn't look too frosty. Yesterday turned into a beautiful day after the early snow, I was quite warm when I was out for a walk.
Hope you're all safe after the storm and you have power restored. DS1 works for a large electricity supplier, he was called in to man the phones to try to help people.
Good phone chats with my elderly Aunt and DS2 yesterday, caught up on all their news but apart from that my day was fairly slothful.
Happy Monday all, hope the poorlies are recovering and the missing return soon. Take care. XX14 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Nmlc I hope you get the support you need..
We've had some snow here and it's minus 3 so I will take my poles with me when I walk Beano.
I need to clear the back of the boat, Beano was snuffling around last night, I'm worried there could be a rat about. There is no food out there but it may have been attracted to the shelter.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.13 -
Morning all,
I hope you get the extra support NMLC, and Hester, hoping it isn’t a rat.
Gers, it was lovely to read about your advent memories.
Up early today, and thought I would stay up, as often I get those weird dreams if I fall asleep at this time of day, and I end up feeling worse for wear.
No real plans for today, although my sister is visiting my parents so I will pop up to see them all. Perhaps, I should start buying some gifts? I just am not motivated this year, for some reason.
Take care all.

Morning all
We have had snowI absolutly love snow but we rarely get any at all, we only have a light dusting but its something !
We had a lovely day yesterday dd opened her presents and loved them all and then we went for a cold but bracing walk then home for a roast dinner and a roaring fire while it snowed it was bliss.
We popped up to mums and put her new electric blanket on so she would have been all cosy last night, she complains that her feet are cold in the night so I hope it helped.
Off to work today and the clients will be hyper due to the snow, I am back in my cafe as from today so I bet I will be shattered tonight. I have Thursday off this week though so I am very much looking forward to that.
Thinking of dumplings family xxx
Take care everyone and stay warm xxx

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC - hope work goes ok.It's bitterly cold with snow here, yesterday was the same.Peony, that happens to me, having nightmarish strange dreams if I stay in bed and fall into a light sleep.Dgs came to spend the day with us yesterday, we hadn't seen him on Thursday as usual, because the carpet cleaners were here. We had a lovely day with him, (but tiring) I gave him a red card and some stick on Christmas decorations , so he made a Christmas card to take home for his mum and dad.His sister will be here for tea after school as usual for a Monday. Not a lot happening today otherwise. I need to slightly alter the hem of some curtains, I started one last night but couldn't be bothered to do much.Thinking of our poorly people and Dumpling's family, take care folks.13

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Brr talk about a bleak midwinter. The snow was relentless yesterday and its now looking deadly after lying frozen all night. I can hear neighbours trying to get their cars out and the snow is crunching it's so hard! Rather them than me, I can't keep on my feet when it isn't snowing, never mind in it, so I shall be staying put today.
The phantom freezer messer upper has been at it again and the inventory is sitting there neglected so the contents of both freezers are in turmoil and in need of another sort out. I might venture into the garage later to tackle them but I shall be in my coat and wearing gloves. When did I get this soft?!
After much rummaging I unearthed my last pack of chilli yesterday as I fancied some for my tea. I brought some mince in at the same time so will make more later, hence the need to tidy the freezers as I don't know where I will slot it otherwise. I also want to make a tub of soup to live in the fridge to accompany my lunches through the week. Other than that I must put my festive head on and summon up the enthusiasm to scour the net for inspiration for the remaining gifts. We went to the wonderful big garden centre over the hill on Friday and I thought a wander through their beautiful gift department might inspire me but sadly their eye watering prices put me off spending!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and convalescing. Take care if you have snow and stay warm and safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Morning folks.Yesterday was so blooming cold, beautifully bright and blue but bitter. I got out my advent crown and lit the first candle, it looked so pretty on the window ledge. Later on my gardener sent me a photo of my place from the other side of the sea, it was so impressive I sent it to loads of family and friends. She took a photo about a month ago of the cottage with a rainbow right over it. 😀
Most of the day was wittered away, filling bird feeders, bringing in logs, clearing space for the advent crown, sifting through a pile of stuff and ordering a new power cable for an old laptop. I want to clear it out and then get rid of it. So, I was slightly productive though I don't feel the need to be every day anymore.Ruby - I hope your day isn't too tiring.DP1 - do you have water yet? My fingers are crossed for you.I'm keeping all our poorlies and missing in my thoughts. Happy Monday to all.14 -
Beautiful sunrise here this morning. More snow overnight but no more electricity cuts. Looks like another quiet day for me as my balance/ mobility are poor and I don’t want to risk a fall.
Take care all.12 -
Morning all and thanks for the start nmlc. Hope you get the back up you need at work.
Mighty jealous of the roast dinners and hygge going on. We only managed egg on toast last night as DH was feeling full of cold and I was too tired to cook after driving back from Brighton. Think it was the sea air. Lovely to see DD settled though.
Hope all those with snow keep safe – we just had a frost here in SE London this morning. We live on a hill, so it makes for interesting outings when the weather turns. Luckily I’m WFH today so only need to go as far as the makeshift office (dining room).
Washing is on because a seagull decided to christen me as we walked from DDs house to the bus stop yesterday. Luckily only got the shoulder of my padded duvet coat and not my hair! Sure I heard him laughing as he flew off….
Need to food shop in A!di after work as didn’t get a chance to go at the weekend. Will make a list a bit later and hopefully it’ll be a smash and grab as can’t bear to food shop at the best of times.
Sending get well wishes to the poorlies, and hope those who lost power/water over the weekend have had it restored now. Thinking also of dumpling’s family xx
