Remember that 1. Solar panel installation doesn't come for free ! and 2 . If QrizB has had panels for ten years then he is getting some level of Feed in tariff payments which are no longer available for new installs.immac said:

Have you registered you/your wife as being vulnerable with Eon? There should be a cold weather payment (not the same as the gov gives pensioners) available if you look for it.
Remember they have 2 priorities - 1 is to make a profit. The other is to ensure that they don't get too much publicity for letting people with long term health issues freeze. Oh and....I just received a letter from Eon regarding free funding for solar panels etc. You need to talk to their Green Homes Grant Team 0333 202 4820 or eonenergy.com/green-home-grant.
