Bitterly cold here but bright and sunny, I have stripped the beds and got them on a hot wash they can go outside for a while as its quite breezy.
Its my darling dd's Birthday today she is 27 how did she get to that age ??? seems only yesterday that she was a baby in arms, just waiting for her to get up to open her presents.
I ordered a bit of brisket for dinner later but its tiny so OH has gone to the boot sale this morning and will get a bit of lamb from the meat man there we will have a bit of both for dinner today and tomorrow.
Had all the family round last night for chese and wine it was a lovely evening to celebrate all the Birthdays.
Still thinking about Dumpling and her family xxxx
Have good days all and stay warm xxx14 -
Morning all ,pretty bloomin chilly here! We had a lovely meal out in M/cr on Friday evening but it was so windy when we got off the train. The pub we were meant to be meeting in was closed being refurbished, so had to message friends saying we were in the 1 next door, then walked a bit to the restaurant. On the way home the nearest station had shut so we had to walk to the next one, it was wild.DS picked us up from the station and we saw a tree across the main road near us with a team working to clear it.Yesterday we had to get very well wrapped up for footie related activities but it seems to have calmed now. I had made a curry before we went to the match so we enjoyed that when we got back.Today we might do some shopping for a few bits for the DGC.Tea is steak from the T meal deal so that's quick later.Hope you've all stayed safe with the storm.I've also been thinking of dumplings family since we heard the sad news, and hope they are getting support.xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning
Must be cold here too as Ive put the heating back on for the day. My menopausal internal central heating usually keeps me warm but to keep my fingers moving it needs a bit of outside help today.
Trying to keep the house nice and tidy after the cleaner came so lots of little jobs today. Everything takes me so long but its good exercise too. There was a recommendation I saw last week that the over 65s do lots of ironing to keep fit!! I haven't ironed anything for years and even if I did would not consider it would be good exercise. I'll wait till Im 65 and reassess. Daily thread usuals for me washing, dishwasher and general tidying The physio recommended a frame with a seat on for cooking so despite being very reluctant I got one and its great for filling and emptying the washing machine and dishwasher.
Food wise I have been keeping it simple but now I may get back to some more adventurous stuff. Last night I had some spanish garlic prawns and garlic bread tonight I'm fancying fish chips and peas (not adventurous at all I know)
Enjoying a real binge of Married at first sight atm with the odd Christmas film thrown in
Like everyone else Dumplings family are on my mind a lot such a sad time for them all.
Have a good day all12 -
Had to add...Its snowing at last
Hope it sticks for once

Afternoon all.
It was -3 here when I got up, Beano's keen for a walk however cold it is, it's just the rain he hates.
We've had our Tesco delivery, I was walking back along the tow path when I spotted the van on the bridge. When I got to him he asked if I knew where the marina was. He laughed when I told him he'd got my shopping on board.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.10 -
It's snowing here too - heavy and thick and already piling up. But sadly I am not as excited as you NELS. I hate the disruption and worry it causes. It's going to be a long cold winter starting this early."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12

Love and Healing thoughts to all poorlies.
Had hoped to go and do some tidying up in gardens, we were lucky just one branch off Black Poplar and it landed in side garden so no damage but leaves and pots are all over back garden and front. Weather forecast had said dry but freezing but then suddenly out of the blue it started to snow, now was predicted for us at all and now its saying it will last all day and its sticking - all very, very rare here, we some always seem to miss snow or no one than a light fall that never lays yet few miles away fields can be covered if not local ones. Not holding my breath, it will stay, fully expect it to turn to rain any second. 2010 was last time we had proper snow that stayed for a week and even shut down city for about 3 days, they bought snow ploughs but then after a few years of no snow. sold them. So, garden can wait and will I be sure find something to do inside - more a case of picking one task or two out of the very many to do.
Think a rib sticking stew might be nice tonight - with lots of vegetables and pulses. I joined some others on Next-door and bought a whole lot of fruit and vegetables in bulk then shared them out. For £10 a box we got lots.
Ah snow has stopped while typing this, that most likely will be it for the winter - I bought sledges for the grandchildren in 2010 and since then they have sat in garden shed unused
Oh a few more big flakes are falling again, wow.
Right will move this carcass of mine of start on the veg.
Keep warm and stay safe everyone.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Afternoon everyone
Everything was calm after the storm with lovely bright sunshine this morning, though very cold - it's snowing now though and quite dark.
DD collected little one this morning and took me down to mam and dads - there's trees and fences down everywhere - a lot of damage. You can clearly see the path of the storm - straight from the north. We have a big Haven site right on the coast at the top end of town - there's pictures online of the devastation there - apparently several vans blew into the sea. Luckily it's closed for the winter.
We have had no water supply since this morning - DD got me a big bottle from the shop so I should be ok. A lot of the town and the surrounding villages have had no electric supply since Friday night, but we're ok so far.
I popped into the shop for some bread before I came home and got some reduced pork steaks so I'll have one for tea. I re-booked yesterdays Tesco shop for tomorrow afternoon so hopefully it will come.
Going to have a nice quiet afternoon, might wrap some Christmas presents, I'll see. Need to make a list of what I still need - I think I'll go into town tomorrow morning, as I need to buy cards.
I wish I had a pound for every time little one has said 'Granny where has my pink sandpit gone?' I'd be rich! She has been standing on a chair at my bedroom window looking for it in the field. She was talking to eldest DD in Germany this morning and telling her about the storm - she asked if she'd seen her sandpit! I've promised to buy her another one next summer.
Well I'm going to go - I'd wash my dishes - but I can't! Take care everyone and keep warm x

I forgot to comment on the ironing for exercise idea once you hit 65. I am now 75 and during the last 10 years I have never once thought I was exercising! I only do the bare minimum and it's still classed as a job to be avoided if at all possible! Who thinks up these ideas?"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10
