Pleased I was able to get two holidays done in the last couple of months while things were relatively normal. I was looking to get away for a few days over Xmas/New Year but it was going to be expensive and the extra risks and hassles make it not worth it.  Better just hucker down until the spring.
  • just try I just trying to find out if I would need to isolate if someone on the same flight as me tested positive even if I wasn’t near them?
  • Several posters on here have been pinged or contacted by Test & Trace following flights, and told that they were close contact of a positive case. as they were fully vaccinated they were not required to isolate at that time.
However the law has now changed and if the positive case may be Omicron the new law is that close contacts will have to self-isolate . This will apply even if you are fully-vaccinated or aged 18 or under. This is the law is being reviewed in 3 weeks.
  • I took 2 flights during the pandemic, and was pinged after both (once by the Irish Test and Trace, once by UK) so I guess it's fairly common and they just alert everyone on the flight.

The new "if it's omicron you need to self isolate" will be annoying, as I fly again in a week or so and probably will be pinged again after the return.

So if you don't have a smartphone (like me) are you unlikely to be pinged ?

I dont have the track and trace app and the NHS decided to a) text and b) email me when someone on my plane had it. They could also of course c) ring you.

Therefore not having a smartphone wouldn't escape you from this,  sadly.

In the case of recent overseas travel and the need to take action if someone on your flight is positive for the virus, Track & Trace will contact you from the information provided on your PFR.

We were due to be in America now but would have had to miss work for at least a day until we got the pcr results back so we postponed the holiday.
The question is my boss has contacted me but do I need to tell them my changed plans as I am  returning to work on the day planned?
  • If you turn up at work on the day you both agreed, what you are doing instead of going to America is, quite frankly, none of his business.
  • I have family coming from Austria to Wales for Christmas.  They arrive 5pm on 24th December and return at 10am on 28th.  I guess this means they have to take a test on Boxing Day (being day 2 after arrival) but there is no postal service so we are unable to post back until 27th so they are unlikely to get results back before they go home.  Do they need a negative result before they can travel back and how is that possible within this short time frame over the Christmas period?  How does this work with isolation etc?  I am really confused and there is nothing I can find on Government website that covers this specifically.
