We have DGC for the weekend had thought about going to Christmas Market but will see how the day pans out may finally get the warmer duvet out as noticed the chill last night
DH and I normally overheat but think it might be time about now
Trying to get myself into gear for present buying and sorting I am normally much better organised than this
Have as good a day as you can and keep safe and well

Morning, hugs if you need one. I could not stop thinking about Dumpling and her family yesterday. I am not sure if she had been vaccinated, I know she suffered from agoraphobia. Her family must be devastated.
We have 50mph winds and sleet, the wind woke me at 4am, a bit like a chewed rag now. The market is closed, good job I have enough spuds for tomorrow. will have to get some veg on Monday. Needless to say we will be staying in the warm.
Yesterday afternoon we decided to have a treat so went to the garden centre for a holly wreath for the front door and treated ourselves to a cream tea, so no fish and chips, we will have them tonight. I did poached eggs about 7pm.9 -
Hi everyone,
Like others dumpling has been in my thoughts a lot, I hope her children get help with coping with her death.
At last I managed to deep clean the bathroom that I have been promising to do for days. I went through all the things in our large bathroom cupboard and discarded a lot of open toiletries I will never finish using, I also put aside a few unopened things for donating. It took me quite a few hours to do it and I shall move on to the main bathroom today, it shouldn't take as long because it only really gets used if we have visitors.
I went to Lidl to buy a wok in their Black Friday sale, it's huge so I shall have to clear a space to store it. I also want to do some more sewing, both machine and hand. I'm up to the milking maid in my hand sewing project so I hope to finish those this week - we bought our tree yesterday so will be decorating on Wednesday for the holiday. I'm feeling more festive this year than last, we didn't do presents last year, just made donations to charity but I am buying presents this year. I'll donate to Fareshare and Refuge as well though.
Have a good day.9 -
Morning all. The news about dumpling was a bit of a shock. I was out with two friends last night, one is a nurse, and I told her about dumpling, she told me about sepsis and the toll it can take. I know it's an odd way about doing things, but it helps me to understand..Of course, that started us off talking about our own health,so we all left with new vigour to become healthier. Quietly ignoring the pizzas we had in boxes to bring home because we couldn't finish them.It is currently snowing and very windy so until I get dressed I'm not going in the garden to pick up the barbecue or the door that has been ripped off the garage. OH must have left it the tiniest bit open and even though it sticks, obviously the wind was stronger. This has happened before and I was able to fix it back on by moving the hinges, but this time it's taken some of the doorframe out and that is beyond me. I'm going to sit on the sofa a lot today, think and feed the fire.Look after yourselves today, maybe a bit more than usual...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi7

Morning everyone
Double posted so have transferred my post to here.
Hoping all the wonderful messages about DUMPLING bring Steve and the family some little bit of comfort and support she was certainly held in high regard - that completely demonstrated by the volume of messages sent, thinking of you all x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, wet underfoot but air temperature has really dropped. Rain forecast for today.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and a brekkie bar. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was chicken and ham kievs, chips and beans for the menfolk, I had fishcakes and salad. Not sure about tonight - maybe a picky tea.
Yesterday was a busy one, got the food shopping done early, then got the other jobs I planned so was pleased with that. Tried to start some xmas shopping online but dead loss as the things I found were out of stock online, so will try again over next few days - hoping it was just because it was Black Friday - if not I'll have to brave the shops.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning
I thought a lot about Dumpling yesterday, her family meant everything to her and they will miss her, I hope they will be able to support each other and get any help they need.
I had a busy day yesterday, I gave the bedroom a second coat, ended up looking like a snowman again, ceilings and rollers are a tricky mix.
Then my DD and her partner asked for a lift to and from a party as they were unable to get a taxi.
We decided not to go home but to go out for a meal, we went to a 'spoons, nice food but so noisy, it's in a student city. I think I must be getting old.
The weather was horrible, sleety rain, high winds and lots of branches on the road on the way back.
Third and final coat of paint today then I think it'll be shower & pj's on and cwtch in for the rest of the day.
Have as good a day as you can🌻9 -

Morning everyone,
I couldn’t stop thinking about Dumpling yesterday – she was the same age as me. She seemed such a lovely lady, and loved her family so much, it’s just tragic.
This is such a lovely thread, I read along every day. I used to post c.5 years ago, but we went through bad times with the suicide of my nephew and DH redundancy. I always felt my posts were gloomy after that so I stopped posting. I’d like to come back if you’ll have me? Looking forward to tru’s Christmas carols (hint hint).
We have had a shift in family life this year as DS1 (22) bought a house with his GF in May. DD (20) is in year 2 of uni in Brighton – this year thankfully the lectures are in person in an actual lecture theatre whoop. DS2 (17) is in year 13, and hopes to go to uni next year, so very soon it will be just DH and I. Feels like it’s happened all of a sudden, but not in a bad way!
In other news, DH and I will walk to the high street in a bit to get teabags (we have run out shock horror), and need to withdraw some cash as we’ve found DS2 a little car to learn in. It may or may not be ready today – MOT runs out on 10 December and seller conveniently didn’t mention it….also DH didn’t ask, so I only noticed when I taxed it on line.
Bestie and her DH are coming tonight and we will go out for a curry in the high street. I need to pop to M&S for a collection this afternoon - Christmas present for Bestie’s SDD – will need wrapping paper too. Plus need to pop to Hobbycraft for some card blanks for a couple of handmade cards I plan to send.
Weather here in SE London is dry atm but windy. Won’t stay out any longer than we have to!
Have a good day all,
Coxy

Coxy, welcome back, I was sorry when you stopped posting.
Csarina, I'm fairly sure dumpling was vaccinated but of course she was open about her diabetes and heart problems which will have taken a toll on her as well as the bouts of sepsis.
I've managed to fit the ginormous wok in the cupboard and found a couple of things that had slipped off the carousel into the corners. I also removed some things that I haven't used in forever to get rid of.10 -
Good afternoon,
Slept late this morning, nothing on the calendar to do, so just turned over (a few times).
DDog had her liver scan yesterday, not great news, but no less than we had expected, gearing up to giving her the best of diets and supplements to support the meds prescribed by our lovely vet. ATM she is as bright as a button, playful and happy so we take each day as it comes.
Friday is my usual market shop day, so I dragged OH into town with me to carry some CS donations to save on diesel, his reward (mine too) was a yummy breakfast at a newly opened slightly up market café in the town square, all local produce - yummy. It was quite funny as someone brought breakfast and put down in front of me and returned to kitchen, we assumed he would be right back with OH's, waited a while while OH watched me enjoying mine and then chased it up at the counter, as we thought cook had misread the order, we were quite chilled about it and will return soon.
The weather then threw everything at us, cold wind, rain, sleet, hailstones the lot, we dodged from shop to shop and got a break for the 15 minute walk home.
I too, kept thinking about Dumpling and her family, so very sad.
Remainder of the stuffed pork tenderloin for tea, will re-heat in gravy and have steamed green veg and carrots with it, then need to write a food plan for the coming week or so.
Keep safe and well. Hugs and spoons available as needed. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)8
