This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks. After the terrible news about Dumpling yesterday she was on my mind for most of time as was her family. I hope they are able to find some peace.Yesterday I had my first haircut since 03 June, a lot to do with inertia. A friend recommended a hairdresser some miles from me, right down the peninsula, so I made an appointment and took myself down. Even though it was a long way I enjoyed the beautiful drive and the great hairdresser. She has a tiny salon in a tiny place so it's very quiet and peaceful. I can't bear busy noisy salons. I made it back before the nasty rain arrived, lit the wood burner and had a glass of wine whilst toasting my feet.Today I'm doing my weekly shopping in Oban so will be heading up there shortly. Snow isn't forecasted for here, seems that the east coast is being hit badly. My thoughts are with our poorlies and missing and hope that everyone can keep safe and warm. Happy Saturday to all.11

Good morning, thanks for starting Gers. It's a wet morning here, the weather has been terrible, cold, high winds and even some snow last night. Not a lot on today, tidying and a bit of shopping. There are some curtains to put up as well, and some books to sort through, The bookcases had to be emptied and moved when we had the carpets cleaned the other day, and some of the books can go I think.Thinking of Dumpling's husband, family and friends today, it's such a sad, difficult time for them.Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, take care folks11

We've had our first snow of the winter this morning and I immediately want to hibernate. I love nothing more than sitting by the fire when it's cold outside.
I have some school planning to do this afternoon and then I'm planning a tea that my mother used to make when I was very little that I'm almost sure was handed down to her from her mother during war rations.
Other than that, I have two cats to snuggle with and a good book.
Have a good day everyone 😊12 -

Morning All
The weather is a bit calmer this morning although it wasn't as bad here as further east. It was just very windy here with no rain, so very thankful for that. Hope everyone is safe and well. This morning is bitterly cold but bright and dry. I may put the bedding on the line for a blow.
Gers, like you I have been thinking of dumpling and her family who she loved so much, my thoughts are with them all.
Sounds like you have a busy day scarlett, were you pleased with the carpet?
I must do some shopping this morning, the cupboards are bare! May call at the allotment too just to say hello as there's nothing growing there now apart from a few stalks of kale.
I had a long chat with DS1 and the DGC last night, haven't seen them for a few weeks, may see about going to visit them tomorrow if the weather is OK.
Thinking of the poorlies and those struggling with life, have a good weekend. Take care. XX10 -

Camelot, yes, the carpets have come up really well, as did the 3 piece suite. When I came back from the Drs after having my ears syringed or irrigated as they call it, they were hard at work (it's a family business) and because they'd finished their previous job early, and arrived at our house early DH had asked them to do the stairs. We will now have to practise walking on our hands!10
