Make weddings cheaper ... help change the law!

A crazy law in the England currently says it's only legal to get married in a building, not outdoors. i.e. registered hotels etc. that make a fortune from weddings!
As I want to get married outdoors one day I'd like to help change the law. Someone has already started a petition on the government website and I wondered anyone could help change the law by signing the petition? Aswell as personal reasons for wanting to get married outdoors, I hope the change in law will open the market for wedding venues and mean they will become cheaper ... hence the tenuous
money saving link!
You just need to go to the following link, fill in your details, then reply to the confirmation email.

I'm Jewish. I'm getting married outdoors in June in England.
I believe you can do the same if you are a Humanist0 -
But don't you need to then go a registery office too? ... to make it legal?0

I picked a town at Random and up popped the Botanical gardens for that area.We all evolve - get on with it0 -
You can have your ceremony anywhere you like...so long as you sign the legal paperwork somewhere licensed (indoors). They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

It doesn't even need to be indoors, just under a permanent structure with a roof. So some venues have summer houses or archways in their grounds that you can get married under.0

Don't you still have to have it solemnised in a building though?nothing to see here, move along...0 -
More from the site I linked to earlier
Q4. Can we get married outside or in a hot air balloon?
Marriages can only be solemnized in a register office, a building approved for civil marriage, e.g. hotel, an Anglican Church or in any other religious building which is registered for marriage. We all evolve - get on with it0 -
After the outside ceremony, i will pop inside and sign a legal marriage form.. i don't know if this is required to be inside
It's on the grounds of the venue we're having our meal in, so it's not exactly made it any cheaper0 -

That's only in Scotland where Humanist ceremonies are legally recognised. In England you can have a Humanist ceremony but you'd need to have a registry office one too to make it legally recognised.Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

Can you give some more info on how it will make weddings cheaper. I understood you paid for the registrar to attend the place of ceremony plus hire of 'room'. Would't you still be required to pay for 'use of' outdoors.
