Happy Sunday turtles !
I have already lost my NSD as i took pity on the impoverished state of DD1 so took her car to the PFS & filled up the tank - £43!! She lost 2 days of pay in Nov as she handed in her notice in October but the Head told her she couldn't leave on 28 Nov as she needed to put it in writing (an email isn't apparently 'in writing'); the Head then told her they thought she was finishing on 28 Nov so were only paying her up to then! She is now staying till end of term so will get paid back the last 2 days of Nov but not till payday at the end Dec
I forgot i'd suggested meeting a friend for a walk this afternoon so i will do that instead of facing the shopping centreThink i'll attempt to go one evening after work. DD2 has now said she doesn't want a big suitcase for Sprouts Day after all so that's one thing off the list.
Going to do some work and hopefully it will stay dry so i can get some steps in later

Afternoon turtles 🐢
Didn't post yesterday but it was a spendy day, needed eggs and also got some Xmas presents and cards sorted while I was out. Went to a friend's house for a bit of a get together as she is emigrating in a few weeks' time (covid permitting). Felt weird to be around so many people, must admit I felt a bit uncomfortable.
Today has been a NSD, up early to go horse riding then volunteering. Outside in the cold and wind from 8am until about 1pm so very appreciative of a warm car to drive home in!7 -
I have a NSD!!! Did not want to buy a single thing at the street fair, so I did not. Went in and out of c/shops - bought nothing.Came home, made lunch, hoovered the middle floor, hall and stairs, cleaned the bathrooms, did the washing up and watched the football. All for free.Deni, I have to put £43 of petrol in my little Nissan Micra to fill the tank now too.Off to continue demolishing my list before all motivation falls off.

Went for a nice walk and as i'd lost my NSD i went to Mat-a-land and Sainz and bought some pressies; quite pleased with what i bought. Also bought a toy for a charity collection for local primary schools which i must drop off this week.
Finished my self employment work earlier so that's all out of the way till January
Going to make a veggie roast for myself and roast some BNS for risotto tomorrow or Tues. Nearly bought a ready made quiche in Sainz but resisted - i have puff pastry in the freezer and plenty of options for fillings so i should and will make my ownI don't get paid for 2 weeks but i have plenty of food and could probably last till then without buying anything except bread and a bit of fresh veg.
i'm still shocked at the cost of petrol f0xh0lesIt now costs me over £50 to fill up my fiesta. I have a few trips to work and a trip down to the SW so will need a few more tanks till the year is out.
Gratitudes - being able to get a few presents in local shops; nice walk and chat with friend and being able to share our MH struggles; cosy evening ahead & being able to get into pjs soon

Was a spend day today. Went to an event with a work colleague. We never brought anything from the stalls.
Grateful for:
Pub lunch, I brought for both of us cost £12.70, cheaper than food sold on the stalls.
Having enough money on oyster pay as you for train fare to event.
Work colleague given me a lift half way back home, then got bus the rest of the way.
Had a nice time out.
Afternoon nap.
Sorted out the artificial flowers I brought for my Mum's grave. Will go before Christmas.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20139 -
Evening all,Spend day today, went to an open air market. Bought oranges, lemons and cheese. They either didn't have, or I didn't like the look of, the other things on my list. Also bought a small old sink for my garden (a cute size for a planter, and only £3), and few bits for my small business, but as these costs go through my books, I don't count them as personal or household spends. While I was spending anyway, I bought some wine for Christmas (also comes in handy for various birthday presents). Used a voucher, so got a very good price. So still on 3 NSDs.Bit of exercise today, did 3 dog walks as well as walking round the market. Bitterly cold though!Roast dinner eaten, and now sitting by the stove10

Stupidly busy at work the past couple of weeks and 2 more even busier weeks (with extra work added to the first few days of this week on Friday afternoon courtesy of SLT
) to come before we break up.... sigh.
Have made a reasonable start on Xmas shopping - and DDs bday. Possibly just over half way there? Need to wrap things and write cards. May also have a funeral to go to next week/ week after.
December and NSDs just don't go together here - I have a tendency to do online shopping in small bits as I get inspiration for gifts. I am, however, determined to eat up random freezer and fridge items this week and next to make space for Xmas food itemsmight mean some interesting meals..... 😁 Some random cupboard items will be going to the foodbank and the Xmas hamper service done by the students at school for local families in need
25kg of books leaving the house this week - mostly sold via zapp3r but a few off to the CS along with some clothes, 2 fleecy blankets and some odds and ends - including a Xmas themed ornamental gift I received last year but that just isn't me. Someone else can benefit and the CS can make a few £. Hope your arm is better soon @foxholes. Goodness @mothernerd, you deserve a medal as big as a dustbin lid for your patience! 🏅🏅
Woke at the usual time & couldn't nod off again. Felt sick, so got up. Washed the dishes, then started reorganising the living room, in preparation for putting the tree up. Looked a lot better til hubby moved some things to refill 1/3 of the space again 😓 hoping he'll clear some of his stuff tomorrow! Did the ironing, then took DH for his booster, & my mum shopping. Dropped a couple of bits next door & had a catch up there. Prepped parcels for RM survey, wrote cards for abroad & snapped pics of receipts, then washed the dishes. Waiting for my turn in the bath & hoping the 5th hand water will still be warm enough to enjoy my soak!
Grateful for a tidier space, better weather, a more relaxed dayUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Feeling much better tonight @Thrifty_Taylor , now it is just like I have been punched in the arm, not like last night where I could not even do a pigeon impression (flapping wings was impossible). It is going to be a mad week coming up, with parcels being delivered it is going to be a logistical nightmare to make sure the front door can be heard at all times - they just tap on the glass, and leave whatever it is leaning up against the door, not good when the door is 6 feet from the pavement and in plain sight. They just knock and go, even if you open the door as soon as they knock, they are out the gate and back in their van. I am volunteering 2 days , dh is teaching another 2 days, and has his departmental Xmas lunch one day too. The school run still has to be done. My car has its service and MOT on Friday as well.I hope all the parcels come safely.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Changes in your life
Don't sit on the couch and wait for it. Go out. Make a change. Smile more. Be excited. Do new things. Throw away what you've been cluttering. Do not follow negative people on social media. Go to bed early. Wake up early. Be fierce. Don't gossip. Show more gratitude. Do things that challenge you. Be brave.
Feng Shui Tips
Take responsibility for everything you have
Read the book you bought
Keep your belongings in good shape
Fix broken things or replace them
If you don't take responsibility for your things, life energy (chi) flows away
Small shaky steps still count
Humour
Hope spending time with your family for the holidays doesn't undo all the progress you've made with your therapist
