First smartphone for 80yr old

Suggestions for first smart phone for 80yr old currently using virgin PAYG dum photo. Virgin about to stop service also so may need to move provider. Won't be a heavy user but will use maps, email and surfing when out as well as calls. Have iPad for home internet use.

I would start by looking at Doro phones which are more suited to older users than mainstream devices.

82 year old parent found the Samsung a20 (I think) was fairly straightforwards.

Sim free smartphones are not that expensive. Especially if you look at something like the budget Samsungs- they are fab, do the basics very well.
Gives you greater freedom if in future you decide to change networks.
Lebara (uses Vodafone network) do great 30 day rolling contract sim only deals.
Currently offering a special deal via MSE for unlimited calls, tetxs and 3GB data for £5 a month.
