Why is everything the same for a select account but not for a foundation account.
Because a select account is a current account and it's just swapping overWhy can't I swap everything over to a foundation accountCos it's a new account. Why if it offers the same facilities as my old account.
Im going around in circles. Something here but..0 -
A Foundation Account is a Basic Account in all but name, so RBS do seem to be making it more difficult than need be to transfer from one to the other. At least it saves you looking for a new bank.1

So you are trying to have a bank account that if you make an error it won't cost you any money, in your position I can understand why. However I can see that bank would not be happy with this. I suggest you contact the bank and ask to speak to the special support team, failing that do you have a support worker or someone who can help you set up the new account?Old enough to know better...........1

Hi a basic account is a cash account. It has a stop feature on if there's no money in your account the payment it just doesn't go through. And theres no charges.
No interest is earned on any balance.
Basic accounts are there for folk who get in trouble with money management that end up in debt.0 -
Na not having this why can't I keep my account number and sort code. Not on.
They say I can keep it for a select account...

I can see you are getting in a bit of a tizz. Can you take a deep breath for a moment or two? This isn't as urgent as your brain is trying to tell you that it is.Save £12k in 2025 #33 £2531.77/£5000 (If this carries on I might have to up my target!)

You will only get a basic account if you fail to meet the criteria for a current account. You can not simply ask for one.DeletedUser said:The speel I've had from RBS.

All you have to do is go for the select acc & keep same details. Then say you want a zero O/D limit. I have several current accounts all with zero O/D as I do not want the facility.Life in the slow lane0 -
It sounds like they are changing the format of their basic bank account and as a result they are moving everyone one step up.
If you want to keep having a basic account they need to change your sort code and account number and call it a foundation account. It sounds like this feels inconvenient and frustrating for you.
Do you feel like you want to stay with RBS, or are you now set on changing to a new bank? I have basic accounts with both Nationwide and Co-op, and I have found these easy to use.Save £12k in 2025 #33 £2531.77/£5000 (If this carries on I might have to up my target!)
