change of sim only provider/Data?
Hi, some advice please. Looking to change from EE/2gb/£16.77 pm to Plusnet (EE) 30gb £10pm. Reason.. I see people who have their phones constantly 'on', therefore using data. I am always frightened to use mine, as only 2gb (I am right that if I am at home/using modem, data is not being used, only when away from home and I actually turn data to ON - yes).
If I go for this plan, will 30gb be enough to constantly have data ON.? I do not stream/films, etc, just want to be able to use internet when wanted, without having to fiddle and turn data on. I am not away from home a lot so 30gb should be OK, or do I need 'unlimited' at £25pm to be sure.? Also of course there is a cost reduction to £10. Plusnet say that all numbers WILL port over.
Thanks for any info

When connected to your home WiFi, your phone is not using the mobile data.Your usage sounds like it would even last a month 'always on' on 2GB, let alone 30GB, and if you run out on EE it just cuts out until you purchase more, so no reason to be frightened.Anyway, you're currently paying far too much. Before you sign up for the Plusnet (or any other suitable) deal, request your PAC from EE and tell them your intention when they ask what you're moving to, they will probably offer you a discounted deal matching it to retain you.Evolution, not revolution0

Does your account tell you how much you use at the moment? Most people use less than 3gb (according to MSE) so 30gb is plenty, possibly overkill. Maybe try a lower data amount with Plusnet initially on a monthly deal and monitor it for a while?0

Your mobile phone should be able to tell you how much mobile (as opposed to wi-fi) data you have used in the past months. Look for "Mobile data usage" in Settings. Leave your mobile data switched on for a week or so and check your usage. Unlikely to be more than a couple of GB/month unless you are downloading dozens of WhatsApp videos or using GPS for hours a day.0

it IS low or zero. I just want to be 'safe' enough to leave it on permanantly. Maybe I go on a 4 hr journey and need to udr Google maps? Maybe sit in the pub and fiddle. If I go for the Plusnet plan I save £6 a month, do you reckon 30gb would cover all eventualities0

I had 4Mb and have never used even a half of that with data always on, occasional browsing, maps and even some internet radio.IIRC, a decade ago my landmine internet had 30Mb cap and it was sufficient (without internet radio and TV).0
