Nationwide Regular Saver.

I have just opened a Nationwide Flex Regular Saver and transferred in £200 from my Nationwide current account. I then tried to set up a standing order from my NatWest current account and was told the account number did not exist.
I am used to the account checker saying the account cannot be checked or the name does not match but never the account number does not exist.
Has anyone ever seen this? Perhaps the relevant database has not been updated yet
PS. I have just gone back in to NatWest and it is not just advisory, I am actually not able to set up the account as a payee.
I have also checked Halifax and they say the account does not exist and will not allow me to set up the account.

In my experience, Nationwide create new accounts overnight, so if you try again tomorrow it will probably work.1

If you transfer in from a different bank to the NW current, having set up the SO from the NW account, that should work. It's an extra layer but it's what I'm doing.
This is one of the very few times that I've discovered something attractive from a newspaper (the ipaper) rather than MSE!1 -
I've had exactly the same experience today with the Nationwide Flex Regular Saver and trying to set up a standing order from HSBC.
I'll try again tomorrow I guess, or just use the method mentioned by Schiff .1 -
ReminderAny standing order from a Nationwide current account to this or any other Nationwide saver will be actioned on the exact date regardless of week-end or bank holiday. So if you set-up for the 1st of the month it will be happen on New Years Day. Make sure the funds are available for that date.5

FP from an outside account on the FWDOTM and then FPs to the two RSs. Bit of a faff but that day is always busy.0

Not sure if it is in any way related, but Nationwide's online banking service status currently says "all incoming and outgoing payments are delayed at the moment".
Maybe the rush to open and fund the new account has broken the internet something.0 -
I have the same message about payments being delayed but my transfer from Marcus went through immediately.0

Payment into the new FRS worked immediately for me by sending it from an external a/c to the Flex Direct Current a/c and then doing an internal transfer.
ONLY WORKED WHEN USING THE WEBSITE, using the app came up with unknown a/c.1 -
