Three 24GB 24 month data SIM / receiving calls/texts?
Options
Hi all,
I have a phone number with Lebara which will no longer have any credit on it. I have a work phone that has unlimited calls and texts that I am allowed to use for personal matters. Therefore the only thing I really need is data for my personal phone. Three has a 24GB data SIM card which lasts for 24 months for £36 which is a great deal for me, as I use less about 700mb a month anyway.
However, I do not know whether that data SIM card can receive calls and texts. If it can, then I want to request a PAC code for my Lebara number, and use the 24GB 24 month card on my Lebara number. But I only want to do this if my personal phone can still receive phone calls and messages.
Does anyone know whether this is all possible with the data SIM card from Three?
Thanks in advance!

>> Q&AUnfortunately, the answers are contradictory"this SIM is purely mobile broadband, which means it only works in dongles, not mobile phones."
"You can buy texts which don't seem to expire. 40 texts for 3 GBP. "

Yes I use them regularly they can make & receive calls with credit on them.0

I got the SIM today, and put it in my phone, and works perfectly fine, and the phone can receive calls with no issues.
I've requested a PAC from my old number and have initiated a transfer into Three, so that I keep my old number, but with the 24GB data block on it.
Once the porting is complete, I will update the thread for future reference.3 -
Excellent, this is good information to know. Couple of questions (perhaps once your number port is complete):
Are you able to set up a My3 account to check on your data balance online?
Is there any voicemail provision?

I'm using a 3 SIM 24GB/24month bought from Amazon in a mifi unit. You simply insert your number into My3 and you'll see your allowance.

Sorry for the late update, I simply forgot about this!
My phone number was ported to Three, everything works fine. I can gets texts, receive calls and was able to register with the Three app, which shows me the outstanding balance. As a bonus, instead of 24GB, I had 24.5GB, haha.
No issues at all, and it worked as good as I could imagine. I don't know about voicemail, but I can't see a reason why it wouldn't work. It literally is a normal SIM card with no credit on it, and a 24GB data package which lasts for 24 months.1 -
If you do find yourself wanting to make some calls using that SIM, for instance to numbers you want to keep private from your employer, you could use a third party VoIP account to make calls via mobile data or wifi.1
