CPM charges and gladstone

Hello. We have a few charges sent for parking on private land. Just wanted to ask if it’s a reasonable defence to say the parking attendant should have put a notice on the windscreen instead of coming back a number of times over the course of a week and fining us. They can put a ticket on the window as others have told us. Had we got the 1st ticket we wouldn’t of continued to park there. Also, is it correct that they’ve issued parking fine over a month from the date of the ‘offence’? They posted letters to us instead of placing a ticket on the windscreen.

I’ve ignored all the letters- I did the online appeal to the debt recovery people which was not accepted. It’s been over 2 years now and now Gladstone have sent us a letter before claim. The original charge was £60 per ticket rising to £100, now its £170 per ticket as costs added.

any advice please?

No they do not have to place a NTD PCN on the vehicle , it's optional

It's an unregulated cowboy industry , until next summer !

Please read the newbies FAQ sticky thread near the top of the forum in announcements , especially reading posts 5 & 2

You now need to be reading the second post in the NEWBIES thread for details on how to react upon receipt of a Letter of Claim.

OK, when you sit down and read the NEWBIES thread in detail you'll understand what this means, if the registered keeper wasn't driving:

  • I think we already said my husband( who is the registered keeper) was driving when we did the appeals- I’m not 100% sure as it was over 2 years ago, but I probably did identify himCoupon-mad said:

OK so carry on in that vein.  You can say that failure to apply a PCN doesn't meet either of the types of allowed ticketing in the IPC Code of Practice version from that year.

  • So I should reply to Gladstones that be a the tickets we’re issued over a month of the date of the parking offence, it doesn’t comply with ipc code. Should I expect to pay the original charges or any chance they will all get scrapped??

You need to read the forum if you think either of those is a valid option!  There is no silver bullet and no-one pays, not until this sorry excuse for an industry is properly regulated and public trust is (maybe only slightly) improved by fairer processes, appeals, charge levels and accountability.  Government has stepped in and next year, new cases will be better regulated at least.

You start by reading more of the forum and you replied so quick I'm not sure if you've found the right version of the IPC CoP and read and and found the parts I think were there.
