Faulty TV

So, looking advice. Bought a TV from a very well known brand with 4 letters. After 4 months it started to act weird and reboot randomly and sometimes would be 25 mins without reacting to remote etc. I have a video of the issue on 1st sept. On Monday it did it again and I decided to call the store and they sent an engineer to fix, he's just 'fixed' the issue but now the display of the screen is uneven with shadows on display in places... As they have attempted a fix, should they now replace the set?
Cheers

No, although you could presumably reject the TV as they've made an attempt at a repair (although it isn't technically a failed repair as this appears to be a different issue possibly an issue with the reassembly of the TV.)notbadoff said:So, looking advice. This may (probably will) result in a deduction for the four months usage you've had.0 -
Consumer rights after a failed repair is to reject the goods for a refund, you cannot insist that they replace it.notbadoff said:

Use cannot be deducted before the first 6 monthsLaHostessAvecLaMostess said:

So I've had it 7 months, but have proof of the fault in September so I can prove it existed... Don't mind if they refund as I would just buy another. No, it's a Sony TV set.0

It's still a 7-month-old TV set though.notbadoff said:So I've had it 7 months, but have proof of the fault in September so I can prove it existed... Don't mind if they refund as I would just buy another. No, it's a Sony TV set.0 -
I understand that, but from my understanding of I can prove the fault was there prior to 6 months them it should be deemed to be there from manufacturer0

They're still entitled to a deduction for your use of the TV for 7 months. I doubt your video evidence is going to be particularly compelling. From their perspective, the issue was reported at 7 months.notbadoff said:I understand that, but from my understanding of I can prove the fault was there prior to 6 months them it should be deemed to be there from manufacturer0 -
I'm not sure how the video evidence won't be compelling, the TV refuses to react to anything such as remote etc, it's recorded showing this... I believe the video shows beyond doubt that the TV fault was there on manufacture. Engineer coming back next week to look at it but this will be a second attempt then I will contact store again0

The date the fault is reported is classed and the start date for the fault.
If it was there before that it should have being reported sooner0 -
Because it would be very easy to fake e.g. take the batteries out of the remote - hey presto, the TV doesn't respond. Or just don't press the buttons hard enough - hey presto TV doesn't respond. A video of something *happening* is compelling - e.g. picture defects, sparks flying out of the back. A video of something *not happening* less so.notbadoff said:I'm not sure how the video evidence won't be compelling, the TV refuses to react to anything such as remote etc, it's recorded showing this...
