Just a quick update in case anyone ever comes across this.
The Jewellers reported that this was correct and accurate piece and the description was correct. The mark for the yellow and white gold pieces on the bangle were correct. The metal underneath was the spring and as such it would have been seen if the gold cracked, as it did in this instance.
We reached out to Ramsdens about a possible repair and the Customer Support people I talked to were very helpful and understanding and they did check to see if they could repair, but then offered a full refund.
The wife on the other hand is now in the doghouse for making me run around all the time for this and has just requested that she keeps it, because she can't find anything else she likes. I've recorded her saying that she wants it, knowing that it could break more, and that if it does, then she's not allowed to come and complain to me
Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply.5
