Will First Direct change credit cards to Mastercard?

After Amazon's announcement today that it will not accept Visa credit cards after Jan 2022, I wonder whether this might prompt FD to switch credit cards to Mastercard, follwing their change of debit card earlier this year.

They might, they might not. In the meantime anyone desperate to continue using a credit card on Amazon (assuming they follow through with their threat) can just apply for one of the myriad of Mastercards (or AMEXes )on the market.1

If Amazon really go ahead with their threat, those stuck with only a VISA credit card and unable to get an alternative card could probably still continue using their VISA credit card on Amazon by using it via the free Curve Mastercard.
The only thing to keep in mind is that the Curve card is a debit card, and you therefore wouldn't have Section 75 protection.

or just use paypal on amazon and then use your stored Visa creditcard on paypal

Shame about this since my HSBC Credit Card is a Visa which I opened on a 0% deal. The 0% is coming to an end though so more reason to get a MasterCard CC with my bank Halifax.0

Just use your debit card.
Odds on Visa will strike a deal and give Amazon a better deal. They really can't afford to lose that amount of money. Given that most banks are either now supply mastercard debit or are planning too in the future. Even the ones that have not said anything will be targeted as the sweetner being offered is far too good to be turned down.Life in the slow lane0 -
Also, Amazon may back down - Barclaycard are the biggest credit card issuer in the UK and only issue Visa cards..1

Lloyds aren't massively behind since their acquisition of the MBNA brand/backbook and they issue both.A deal will be struck with Visa or Amazon will move it's UK payments so it doesn't fall in-between the now parallel EEA/UK interchange caps.0

HSBC, NatWest and Santander UK have all confirmed an intention to switch to Mastercard from Visa.0

Someone will back down, whether it is Visa or Amazon.
I don't get the amount of people throwing their toys out of the pram and saying they'll shop elsewhere.
Just use another card, and if you don't have an alternative, get one.
It always helps to have an alternative payment method. Otherwise you shall be at the mercy of companies and their tactics like this.
