    Very true.  It's common to find an item priced at, for example, $100 in the USA, for sale in the UK at £100.
    Although to be fair most US prices don't include sales tax.  Once you factor in VAT the prices are not much different.

    Very true.  It's common to find an item priced at, for example, $100 in the USA, for sale in the UK at £100.
    Remember that UK prices always include 20% VAT while sales tax is extra and varies from city to city.
    I always come back from the States with new clothes though!

    Large stores in Edinburgh and London (probably other cities too) routinely accept payment in dollars or euros. Before I go on holiday I often have Euro notes in my wallet.
    The OP could have enjoyed some harmless fun with the sales staff if she had offered to pay for her dress with €100  :)
