    It'll look good!
Shower aside, it doesn't look too bad as it is!

Thanks, Rosa. Funny how it goes - I did that, must be around 15 years ago, and freshen it up now and then. It just becomes boring seeing it every day. I've no idea what it looks like to fresh eyes, but I now just find it sooo dull...
So, a slight change to black white and orange is on the cards :-)

Loving all those orange bathroom ideas 😍

Takes me back to the bathroom we did in a previous (Victorian) house in c1995 - we stripped/waxed the floorboards,  painted the underside of the original cast iron bath in burnt orange, rag-rolled the walls in shades of the same orange, cream and brown (lol!!!) and hung a swagged, orange tie dye cotton throw at the window.....

It was all very boho - wish l could find a pic to share 😉

Look forward to seeing your finished room, Bendy 😃

Rag-rolling! I remember it well, and loved the look, tho' never had the nerve to try it myself. Och, shame you don't have a pic... :-(

It'll be well into next year before I can tackle this (when mil has hopefully found her own place...), but will report back.

One probably exits somewhere, as even back then - pre digital cameras, ipads etc - we liked to keep a record of renovations we'd done and iirc there's a whole scrapbook for that particular house. I bet, looking back, some of our design decisions would seem hilarious now 😂😁😂

  • My mate has a burnt orange lounge, the accessories etc give the room a Moroccan feel / look and it works well. Definitely reflects their personality.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

The oil paintings I have done in that style are blended with a sponge and I've tried various shades and got different results and love them all.  So a couple have maybe a bit of yellow in the middle but I prefer the darker shades, then the orange and then red and then burnt umber or black at the edges/corners.  (The red can be darker by mixing in a little green).  Blended until I have something I'm happy with and very similar to the shade of my dining room.   It's such a beautiful intense colour!  I've painted the same design with different colour backgrounds and they all look good but the dark orange ones remain my favourites.  I would love to see what you come up with in the end because it's going to be spectacular!

Gulp - 'spectacular'? A spectacle, probably...

Your chosen colours, as I see them on my screen, are just perfect - you could almost dive into their intensity. Stunning. And it's reassuring - as with Doozer's examples - how well they work with dark raw wood.
How did you have this 'vision'? How did you know or feel it would work? I just can't do that.

Thanks everyone - I am pretty confident, now, that this will work.

I know what I like I suppose and happy to experiment.  However I've only ever invested in the cost of the paint.  I've not spent on baths or furniture etc so it's been a cheap gamble.  The floor boards in the room are just the original floor boards sanded and waxed but looking pretty rough with gaps and the occasional saw marks.  The wooden shelves and mantle piece were made by my partner from chunky wood from B&Q.  All of the assorted weird stuff that works so well in there wasn't bought especially for the room, it's just things we already owned.  Things just came together gradually and naturally once the room was orange!  I suppose you'll have less freedom to work it out gradually if you're designing a bathroom but it's going to be great!

    I can't now claim I'm not inspired!
    Thank you everyone.
