Well done on your timing too regarding interest rates. How long did you fix for ?
enjoy your new homeDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

@LadyWithAPlan We had to port our previous mortgage due to the early repayment fee being stupidly high, this part is 1.99% fixed until April 2026, the additional borrowing is fixed for 2 years at 2.19%, I think the combined rate is 2.09%.
The plan to take another 2 year fix on the 2nd mortgage when it ends, and then remortgage them all onto one fixed rate in 2026 when things have hopefully(!) calmed down.
Had a look over all my bills while I had a bit of spare time this weekend and managed to save £6 a month on our sky subscription for the next 18 months.
Pleased as I can be with our energy bills as I was worried when I decided to just go with the standard variable British Gas tariff rather than fix, and 2 months gas and electric is coming in at about £180 not taking into account the government energy discount which I think will knock £66 off the October use.

Mortgage paid today and the balance is now £163,870.83 - I know the payment and mortgage are bigger but I feel like the outstanding balance is dropping very quickly!
£50 'overpayment' safely put away into the ISA.

That time of the month again... mortgage paid - balance £163,555.43.
Another overpayment/saving of £50 put into the ISA.
Gas and electric due this month (5th) but I have been putting aside £100 a month since August to cover it, with the £132 from the government for Oct/Nov the balance is looking to be around £160 which I don't think is to bad.

Nearly the end of the year already... crazy! Mortgage payment all made - balance £163,239.47
Keeping the £50 in my current account for now as I'm waiting on my mileage payment for work to land, but all on track to be a decent month with no big outgoings.

Happy new year all!
Payment made on the mortgage - £162,922.96
I've managed to agree a small increase in my basic pay to £30k p/a but the date this will take effect is TBA, claiming mileage (approx £2k p/a) and overtime (average £2k p/a) my pay should be £34k-ish, given the state of things these days I'm taking that as a big win and it will offer some protection if mortgage rates don't come down in the next year and a half when one part of the mortgage is up.
I've also taken up Amazon Flex over the Christmas period and will continue this, very easy to do and good rates of pay, however the rates will come down now the busy period is over but still worth doing.

Payment made on the mortgage - £162,605.90
I managed to make £455.25 by doing Amazon Flex in January, hope to repeat this every month if I can!
We have splashed out somewhat on the house, a big project involving taking supporting walls down to make a more open plan downstairs and a new kitchen etc, but all funded via my parents on a pay what you can, when you can basis.
Sat at my desk now waiting to see what the interest rate will rise to, I know I am far off a re mortgage but it still makes me wonder what I could be paying in a year and a bit!

Payment made on the mortgage - £162,288.28
This months Amazon Flex work is a lot lower, only £165, lower volumes at the depot due to the cost of living crisis and lots of new drivers taking everything are making it tough to get blocks in, on the plus side I have done a lot of miles for work so next month I should receive about £368 extra in my wages.
Still no sign of the payrise yet, maybe in April...

Happy April everyone
Most of the big bills came out today, mortgage now stands at £161,970.11
Managed to get a lot of Amazon blocks in this month, £366 and also stared on uber eats in the evenings which in one week I have earned £202.12, still no sign of the payrise either, not even a mention so I'm not holding my hopes out on that.
Hope everyone has a good April!

Morning everyone! May already?!
Payment all made on the mortgage - £161,651.38
Managed to make £691.35 through Uber Eats in April, and £50 from Amazon Flex, total extra £741.35 - I'm gutted I can't get this money saved or as an overpayment at the moment but the cost of everything is making that side of things really tough.
