If the company did not send you an email (or a paper copy - but you've already said they didn't do that) that details things like your right to cancel, and any fees you might have to pay to return it - they then cannot charge you *anything* for the return. They would *have* to give you back all your money including the delivery charges.
If the person isn't sure about what to do next - have them read this thread.
You can, of course, keep the chair and try to sell it, but to be honest, you'll probably end up with less money back than if you return it. Second hand furniture (even in good condition) just isn't worth much money these days (unless it's antique or something). However, at the end of the day - keeping your stress levels down is just as important as the money - so do what you think is best - but please, at least consider getting someone to help check through your emails, as that way you *could* end up with all your money back.1
