This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Good morning, it's still dark but it's not lashing down with rain or blowing a gale so it's not a bad start.

I haven't much to report, dgd came for tea yesterday, and we are planning to make lavender bags next week .

DD harvested some lavender from their garden, and it just needs to dry a bit more.  I've found some pale lilac satin and some fine lavender sprigged cotton in my cupboard so Dgd and I will make them next Monday.  I'll do some preparation during this week to make it easy for her.

Also, I 'll have a look in one of the shops here that has a good haberdashery department, I thought we might trim the bags with narrow broderie anglaise if I can find some. I do have some ready gathered broderie, but it's too wide.

We'll also go to the quiz tonight, we meet friends there, so that's it really.

TA, it was nice to read that you're going to be making the famous bolognese bake again for your lovely Dgd's.

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off Scarlet.

My gardener turned up yesterday, she said it was to be the best day of the week. She cleared and bagged up stuff from the front garden so everything is now tidy again. I have plans for it over the next year. 

Other than that nothing much happened. Overnight we had an earthquake which registered approx 4 on the Richter scale. Seems that it woke people up at about 1.45am and houses shook - I slept through it!  So, the earth didn't move for me even when it did actually move. 😀
TA - I bet that the girls really enjoyed your pasta bake just as much as you enjoyed making it and having them there again. 

Scarlet - you've reminded me about the lavender stems I cut ages ago and left to dry in the back barn. I'll harvest it today and put it in little bowls.

Morning all

Feels extra cold here today I am sat under a blanket to try and warm up a bit. Off to work for me today but annoying manager has a day off so just me and my nice work friend, I am going to go down to my cafe for a few hours this week to try and get my strength up a bit as I am not used to being on my feet all day., I think it will be a bit of a shock to the system !

I think its pizza and salad for dinner tonight so nice and easy, the dw will need emptying before work and I need to put a wash on. 

Nels is doing really well and is going great guns with the physio, she has worked so hard bless her.

My mum is away for a few days with my cousin they live in Kent in a really pretty cottage, they will go out and about together so it will be a nice break for her.

Right better get myslef ready have good days all xxx

Morning everyone I had a funny day yesterday I got to work at one and my head was pounding I was getting colder by the minute by the time I got home I was frozen to the bone I felt dreadful I sat a bit and had a cuppa a hot bath and went to bed I felt like my neck was going to snap I have got up this morning and I feel absolutely fine I am wondering was it a reaction from my booster.other news hubby had to feed himself last night amazingly he hasn’t starved to death dog has been walked chilly but not bad decorator got the stairs done yesterday looking lovely I’m really pleased with his work he said it should all be finished this week he’s done a great job just finished my cuppa off to work now until 4 sweet potato and fish for me tonight hubby is having home made pie and mash have a good day everyone whatever you are doing

Morning all dog will be walked in a bit as waiting on the paver he text me on Sunday to say he could do my drive today he was supposed to be hear in September but things being as they are he is coming today its not a big job as we are a corner plot the main parking is on the front and round the corner at the bottom of the garden is a garage and drive and that's the one that needs to be done I did talk to DH about the garden but i think we are going to take a year out on big stuff for a year and concentrate on inside 
Thats all my excitement for today i may change the beds but other than that i will be in all day.

TA I bet the pasta bake was enjoyed by all its the little things that are the most precious sometimes

Hi everyone,

Izzybee, I had a miserable day too after my booster on Sunday. My temperature soared to 38.9 although my hands and feet were freezing. I went to bed early and slept pretty well and I feel a lot better today.

Steve has his cataract surgery this afternoon so fingers crossed that is successful. I shall drop him off and then pick him up later, I'll probably go shopping as well for some quick meals because neither of us are feeling up to cooking much atm.

Thank you for the positive update on Nelski, Ruby I'm sending good vibes her way.

Morning, hugs if you need one.

Grey morning, got up to find the washer had not switched on, so had to reset it manually, I wanted to get the clothes out tout suite........the sheets etc partially dried, finished them off in the dryer.

Lady came last night to collect the cupboard I was selling; our bedroom is getting larger by the minute.

We also had a visit from a lady from the council, we went to a meeting some time ago, she wanted answers to some extra questions she had..........very productive. She was the group leader when I belonged to TFEC, which has been disbanded, she said she knew I would give her honest answers, not what I thought she wanted to hear. So, both barrels, in the right way. She was here for over an hour, and noted down the concerns we had about various things.

Supper tonight sausage and mash, I need to  make bread and also do the raspberries in jelly.

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Dry but dull here but doesn't feel too cold.

Flying visit from me today.  DGDs have been despatched to school and I am just recovering from the chaos that was breakfast time. DW has been filled and kitchen tidied and I have collapsed with another coffee to recharge my batteries!  Although DD and the girls don't live far away and keep popping in it's the first time I have had them for tea, sleepover and breakfast since before Covid. I'd forgotten what hard work it was!  The Bolognese Bake was declared as good as ever so I haven't lost my touch!! Every scrap was eaten and the dish all but licked clean!

Being Tuesday it's my regular meet up day with my oldest buddy for a couple of coffees then lunch. Despite being a lovely day last week it was very quiet so hoping for the same today.as it makes putting the world to rights so much easier when not having to shout over noisy people!

I doubt much will get done by the time I come home but there are odd jobs to do if the mood takes me. Otherwise it will be feet up reading which is much more pleasurable!   Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA.  RUBY it's good to hear NELS is still progressing well and hope she will be back with us soon. I am missing her inspiration for the meals she used to make when life was better for her.  Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Damp and drizzly here today, was going to go for a walk but can't be bothered, think I'll start my pre Christmas deep clean, so I can start thinking about putting the decorations up

Although we are going away tomorrow for a few days, so will have to pack too 😁

Steak and chips for dinner so looking forward to that 😋
