scaffolding quote

I need a roof repair but am having a devil of a job getting quotes for scaffolding (including putting it up and taking it away). I would need 2 storeys worth of scaffolding to allow a roofer onto the roof and it would need to span about 4 metres across the front of the house. No extras like rubbish chutes are required.
I have 2 quotes: ca 350 GBP for a month's hire and another quote close to double that. Since I am struggling to get further quotes, I'm coming on here to see whether the 350 GBP is about right or if I need to work harder to get a cheaper one.

When you say a months hire do you mean that is the cost to have the equipment for a month or is it the cost for someone to deliver it to your property, put it up, leave it in situ for a month then to return, dismantle and take it away?
I know nothing about scaffolding but if it's the latter then £350 seems remarkably cheap.1 -
£350 sounds stunningly cheap. Is the chap any good?
A lot of the cheap scaffolding firms will leave the scaffold up until they have another job to move it to. Would it bother you if it stays up a month or two after your roof is finished? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1 -
Around £12.50 per day for scaffolding seems very reasonable.

Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -

What's the access like? Will they be able to get a lorry close to the front of the house and is the ground on the level(ish), or will they have to carry everything a long way and up/down steps? Anything around the back of the house, or is it solely at the front?
The area of the country will also be a factor.

If the former then £350 sounds about right as it is what we paid for similar last year in West Sussex. The scaffolding was only required for about three days but it was up for about ten days before it was removed, probably because the scaffolding company preferred to leave it in place until it was needed for the next job rather than remove it and store it themselves.
If you need all four sides the £350 is very cheap and I would urge caution.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".1 -

I didn't mind too much about ours being there for a week longer than required as it gave me the opportunity to use it to give our first floor bedroom windows a very good cleaning. The amount of muck that a hose and a brush cleared from the 17 year old PVC frames was staggering.A man walked into a car showroom.

Apart from cost, any reason why you're doing this yourself and not allowing the roofer to arrange the scaffolding?0

It is in the Cardiff area, and just for the front of the house. Access is good- they won't need to lug it once off their truck. The 350 GBP figure includes delivery, assembly and disassembly. I'm not bothered if it is there for a few weeks post-job as long as the roof is fixed.0
