They are held in by a couple of spring clips. Pull them straight down - You may need to wriggle the fitting a bit and/or get a flat blade (paint scraper) behind. Just watch your fingers with the clips. They pack a fair punch when snapping back.Generic GU10 recessed spot light fitting -

There's no need to remove the fitting from the ceiling to change the bulb.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1

But you do need one of these:

I use one like that, but very occasionally the glass comes off and leaves the rest in.1

I don't think it's the same type for some reason . It's probably me .
It looks like for the type of fitting I used to have in my last flat .
My fitting above looks bigger and more awkward.
Having said that, I'll look into it tomorrow morning ..0 -
it looks like it doesn't have a replaceable bulb to me. only way to be sure is too remove it and see3

Irrespective if its a replaceable bulb or a complete lamp it will pull out the ceiling being held in with a spring clip on each side.2 -
Slip something like a filling-knife blade under the rim, and start to prise it gently away from the ceiling. It should start to move away quite easily - and will spring back if you ease off; that's a good indication that it's held by a couple of springs similar to that shown in the pic above.Once you can get your fingertips behind the rim - a hand on each side - keep pulling gently until you can see the folded-back springs. Press these inwards towards the fitting to take the pressure off them - this will make the fitting easier to pull out, but also these springs are prone to damaging the edges of the round holes as they squeeze past on the way out.Yes, they are quite strong...1

I will try some of the above tomorrow morning .I will of course update if my fingers are not cut , and hope that it gets sorted .
It would be much easier if the clips were more visible snd accessible like in the last flat.
Not my fitting of choice it has to be said .I'll leave it there for now ..0
