Hello, I’m in an advanced stage of a purchase - offer accepted several months ago, paperwork being finalised, and the seller has unexpectedly dropped the price, no one asked them to - we double checked with their solicitor and it’s not a paperwork error- anyone come across anything similar? Seems unusual, maybe they are just being nice?

VERY unusual. There must be a reason, but in your position I would not question it or try to find out why!Provided the new price is in the contrct, and the contract is agreed by both sides - yay!(you're sure not related to your survey? Have you had a survey done and did you pass a copy to the estate agent?_1

cynical thought - why? has the roof caved in? house been infested with rats? or have they just gone bonkers? Or are so broke and want to speed up the process??I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Survey done a while back, some issues (for example needs a new boiler) but nothing I didn’t expect and certainly nothing majorcanaldumidi said:(you're sure not related to your survey? Have you had a survey done and did you pass a copy to the estate agent?_0 -
I hope not! Only thing I can think is that the process has been quite slow so far, maybe they’ve assumed (incorrectly) that I’m thinking of dropping out?Brie said:cynical thought - why? has the roof caved in? house been infested with rats? or have they just gone bonkers? Reply to drop, say you didn't realize price was flexible, but that being the case it's gone down another £10k.

Very odd and tricky situation....
Can you discuss it with your solicitor? Ask for a last-minute pre-exchange viewing perhaps?2 -
