Hi.  Sheesh, I could pay off my credit card on Santander's internet banking site, but not anymore. I have to use my tablet now. Gosh, you can sign on to your internet banking, but cannot pay your credit card. Nice. I think not. So, I go to my tablet to sign in and pay off my card there. To get into the webisite or to get into Santander using the tablet, you have to enter a 5 digit number. On my sheet of paper containing the numbers,  I see two numbers, but one is crossed out. Reason there are two numbers is that the 5 digit number for the tablet was different from the one used with the website. That's my recollection. So, knowing which number is for internet banking, I've gone and entered the number that's got a line thru it. But I've not got into the account via the app. I've then requested the number to come in the post. Anyway, I'm miffed, because now I cannot got into internet banking. The number that was good this morning is no good anymore. Why that is no good anymore baffles me. And of course, it's a nightmare to get in touch with Santander, to pay off the credit card by phone or to discuss anything.

Why not just pay directly from your own bank account? It only takes a few seconds and is much easier than going onto each lender's site to make payment.

I'm trying to make a payment to a Santanfder credit card from a Santander current account. But cannot do so now. Because I'm locked out. I'll have to visit my local branch. Payment due 17th. I'm not sure where I stand now with the 5 digit passcode. Maybe it's the same for the tablet and internet banking. But, I'm not sure. What we don't want is to get a number for the tablet which is different than the one for internet banking. If that occurs I'll get into Santander thru the app, and remain locked out of internet banking.

Why not phone them up and make a payment via debit card for now, whilst you're waiting for your login to be sorted?

But, that's another problem. I'm having difficulty establishing a contact number.

Yes, Santander use the same passcode for online banking and their app.

From their website, try 0800 9 123 123.  Or there's usually a number for customer services printed on the back of the card.

Their security team are on 0800 151 3151. I've been locked out several times for no ascertainable reason and this is my lifeline.

Rather than relying on a phone number some random person on the internet has given you, I'd call the number on the back of your card or one you've check yourself is published on the official Santander website...

The random person was on the staff of the security team. If you start calling with the number on the back of the card you have to go through the inquisition with them and when you are eventually transferred to the security team you have to go through it all over again. No thanks, did that too many times.

The random person says they were was on the staff of the security team.

It might well be true but if you start trusting information posted by people who claim they are something online then that's a very dangerous position to be in.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
