Sold a vehicle that I have been told in unroadworthy

The time for them to check was before they bought it. Although I have heard of one case of a buyer winning in court on a private sale, it's rare enough that I'd not worry about it (especially as the total downside to them was having to give a refund, so no more than they'd have been on the hook for if they'd backed down in the first place.)
The only caveat is if you have intentionally misrepresented the car, so if, for example, they asked if there was any issue with the brakes, you said no, but you knew that there actually was a problem.0 -
There is a large number of these threads on pistonheads, there is even a sticky for them, one of the common features is that the OP often does not come back to update. Whether that is because they are happy with the outcome and don't want to temp fate or add fuel to the fire or they did submit to bullying that has no legal basis and give in. I think this will be one of those threads.1
