We are wondering how long people have had their completions delayed by and how long it has taken for the funds to actually reach THEIR own account rather than PPL account? It appears that money left our buyer but was delayed to our account by days. Please note I am talking about people who had already exchanged and have had completions delayed, not exchanges.
Also has anyone any news on exactly what data has been breached? They aren't telling us anything and with so much important information on file, this is a very worrying time.
This has caused immense stress for us and we are dreading the prospect of dealing with the ongoing purchase.
Thanks, good luck to everyone in the same boat, have a feeling we are a long way from resolution!

Yes we're caught up in the PPL quagmire, in the middle of the chain - our buyers are using this organisation as their conveyancer and we were on the edge of exchange before this massive IT breach. We had a hard deadline as our sellers were due to go abroad. Monies from our lender have now been sent back and we cannot exchange. Through some sort of miracle, the rest of the chain have agreed to push back the exchange until after Christmas when our sellers are back in the country.
However communication from PPL with our Buyers, Estate Agent and even solicitor-to-solicitor has been worse than dire. In fact dire is putting it too politely. All we have is terrible twitter updates and vague statements. Even the latest one from PPL about now progressing with exchanges, seems to contradict another posted by their regulator the CLC the day before, about supporting a conveyancing switch - presumably an attempt to retain customers. This company seems to only care about the bottom line.
You would think that a digital-first provider who sings about their seamless online functionality would have robust processes in place to prevent and manage breaches, including but not limited to business continuity plans, back up data centres, encrypted VPNs and resilience plans - including keeping a paper trail. Then comes to another point about being open and honest with clients who have a lot of money and private information passing through their hands. It is completely puzzling how this company operates and I heard bad things before this breach.
I think nothing but a complete apology and thorough investigation into this company's failings including senior management changes are the only thing that will keep this company operating. Some serious questions have to be asked about who recommends this company whether it's estate agents, brokers and the like.
Words cannot explain how completely draining, stressful and miserable these past two weeks have been, and we've not even instructed this company to act for us. House moving is stressful enough without these clowns being thrown into the mix.
