What is normal electricity consumption?
HI,
We converted a barn back in Oct 2017.
It is well insulated and includes for a typical gas fired heating & water system, with mains electricity etc.
It's 4 bedroomed, 2 bathrooms, kitchen utility, playroom, study & Lounge. In total, for g/f & f/f the floor area is circa 250m2.
We're currently with EOn on a Fixed Online Exclusive V66 tariff - £17.75/KWh for elec.
I'm not overly worried about the gas as this (cost) is low however the electricity cost seems excessive.
Eon's latest bill suggests that from 27th Sept - 6th Nov (6 weeks) we used 2551 KWh of elec. I'm therefore wondering if this is a normal consumption for such a home ?
Eon predict circa 22,000 KWh elec usage pa (?).
This realises c£3,900 / pa for elec (& Eon forecast £600 pa for gas....). That's c£375/cpm.
The anomalies are likely to be an elec' Aga and 2 children with a host of devices (charging etc.). I also own an EV although rarely charge at home as there's provision at work.
To summarise:
• Does the consumption for electricity seem high.
• If electricity does appear high reflecting the home/set-up etc. how can we test this this, for example, would it pay to get in an energy expert/surveyor-of-sorts to see if there's a fault or issue, vampire draining and the like ?
• We are NOT on a Smart meter currently, would it pay to get one installed ?
Many thanks.

Can you give us the meter reads as you have been giving to Eon every month please ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

An electric aga? What is the KwH on that?
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

That sounds high to me. Our house is around 6000 kWh per year usageRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

And a photograph of the reading on the meter.

Electric Aga would be well outside the average home .

We had an electric 30 amp Aga. It used a huge amount of electricity; £80-100 a month and that was when E7 rates were about 8p. The 13 amp ones are even more expensive to run. That will be your main user of electricity. Some people like them; we didn't and it's gone now.1

Instead of relying on Eon's predictions (guesses) you should be reading your meter regularly, giving Eon those readings and checking your monthly bills to make sure that they are based on actual or customer based readings and no estimates.
If you do that you'll really know what you are using and be able to do your own predictions which are likely to be more accurate.
However, that said, electric AGA's have a reputation for being unbelivably power hungry - I have no experience myself but if you don't monitor your consumption and just wait for the bill to come in then you'll never know, especially if its estimated.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers2 -
Why do you have an electric Aga when you have gas? Convert it to gas PDQ !0

For comparison I'm on E7 and have 8 storage heaters and use approx 16,000 - 20,000 kWh per year (1500kWh of that daytime use)0
