As the title says.....
I'm looking for inspiration for a present for a nine year old.
Very keen on reading but already has a Kindle and subscription. Parents not over keen on more screens or mobile phone just yet.
Keen on crafting
No outdoor sport / hobbies
I wont be meeting up with her before Christmas to go clothes buying etc so internet based companies are probably the best bet
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Book tokens?? Or buy whatever your favourite book was at that age? I loved The Incredible Journey by Sheila Burnford, still do and need to replace the copy recently lent to a friend. It was also about then I got a big book of poetry and happily dipped into that for years!
Crafting covers a very large area. Is there a place near her that has day classes on a Saturday for pottery or making felt animals or something. Maybe a Hobbycraft?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. They live in a small rural village with few social activities and with 2 younger siblings it's hard for mum to ferry her to many clubs etc, hence my dilemma0 -
I usually just ask the parents what she wants, easier all round.2

When my niece was around that age I gave her a box of crafting equipment. Different coloured papers/card, glitter pens, ordinary pens, glue etc etc. She immediately wrote on the outside 'Katy's Bits and Bobs Box'. It was inexpensive but, apparently, provided hours of joy.2

How about a book subscription from Willoughby Books? I have bought some of the younger family members (and some older ones too) these for Christmas and they have been well received. Everyone loved getting a different book in the post for a few months (you can do 3, 6, or 12 months) and the books were very good. Sort of extends Christmas.1

Can gift her a day's out experience with parents or ask her what she would like.
If she is into photography maybe a camera.1 -

How about a book journal? My daughter has one in an exercise book but you could buy a nice scrapbook and also send her some crafty bits and bobs, or you can buy ready-made journals. I'm not sure if the ready-made ones are particularly creative, but you could possibly customise a plain scrapbook by adding suggestions for pages on post-its in the book. My daughter does pages on her favourite authors, favourite series, themes and genres, links to what's going on in the world e.g. she did spooky books around Halloween.1
