O/S Daily Wednesday 10 November 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, but temperature has really dropped and air feels cold.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was LO roast lamb braised in stock, which then I made into gravy, there were some LO yorkshires, and mash, I'd already prepped some more potatoes so par boiled them and then roasted them in the ninja into roast potatoes and added some frozen veg and that made a good meal for us all, once hairdresser had finished and gone.
Last day at work for me today before my leave starts - looking forward to my time off, will get going this afternoon with getting stuff done, need to get the washing up to date and do some housework as Friday I have lots going on and won't have much time spare. Just my half day of work at the other office today - so shouldn't be too bad.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.After we'd been to our local residents' meeting yesterday we went to Du*elm and I bought some new curtains for our bedroom, and they look really nice. Bought one or two other small things there, and had a look round. We were in for the afternoon, then it was the quiz last night.I'm meeting up with friends this morning at Do*bies, so I'm looking forward to that. It's only a short bus ride away. Not a lot else happening, I might get out the stocking fillers I bought for the young dgc and try them in the actual stockings to see if I need anything else. That's it for today for me. Hope everyone has a good day, thinking of our poorly people.Take care folks.14

Morning all
Raining here and quite chilly at least there is no frost. Thanl you all again for the good wishes re work the meeting went quite well and they have offered me my old job back but I also have to work one weekend in four in the new cafe which I dont love the idea of but its better than I thought I am just waiting to get the money side sorted before I agree to anything, but it will do for now and tide me over until something else comes up, thank you again.
Off to work today and I suspect it will be quiet as its raining so another day with the strange manager and not having much to do !
Mum is cooking for us tonight, liver and bacon with mash and veg, I love liver so really looking forward to it. I need to empty the dw this morning.
Gers I hope you can get some help no one should have to struggle and you have been through such a lot xxxx
TA hope you are ok my lovely xxx
Have good days all xxx16 -
Morning All
No swimming on a Wednesday so I went for a walk instead with some friends, lovely morning but still quite dark.
Hot wash was done last night so is on the pulley, may have to put it in the TD to finish off later. I'm going to start cleaning the kitchen cupboards tonight and put everything through the DW for a freshen up, hoping to get rid of some things that haven't been used for a while. If I do one cupboard a night it shouldn't be too bad.
Glad you like your new curtains Scarlet, we have a new Dunelm near work and they have some lovely stuff, in fact I got the new living room curtains from there.
No word from the horrid parent yesterday, I think she's laying low. I think I was more angry that she had her 7 year old with her whilst using her rather flowery language, poor child must have been mortified (or perhaps she's used to it).
Hope you're all well, I think you're doing the right thing Gers, talking and some good fresh air works wonders.
Have a good day, take care. XX14 -

Morning everyone
I have an appointment at the Freeman in Newcastle this morning so off out soon to get the bus to the train station. Hoping the appointment doesn't last too long so I have time for a look in Primark and the charity shops near the station. They're so much cheaper than the charity shops here - I think ours are priced at tourists.
Good news you got work sorted Redruby.
Hope everyone has a good day13 -
Good morning all, dull and light rain here.
The "driving lesson" went well, I did several circuits and a few stops and starts at the park & ride then said I would drive the long way home (about 5 miles) forgot an access road was closed so had to drive a circuit of town, steep hills, traffic light crossings etc so have had a good grounding LOL
OH got the lawns cut, hopefully for last time this year, all a soggy mess, but looks neat. Had a long chat with a neighbour which was really nice so felt quite invigorated.
Today is shopping delivery first thing, worst ever order for subs, mostly acceptable, but the peanut butter was a fab bargain on special and the sub will give me half the quantity, so still OK, just not a splendiferous money saving.
Haircut this afternoon, much overdue as had to change appointment to accommodate time away.
Sending hugs to Gers, TA, Poppy, Marie, Nelski, nmlc thanks for the new thread as always your meals sound delish.
Have a good day all.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)12 -
Morning all up and about early went to bed with no dinner no i hadn't been naughty i think we have caught that flu bug that's going around from DS I felt dreadful very chesty but not a cough and freezing cold had to sleep upright not the best so kept waking up every few hours feel a bit better today but still not great so i cancelled my covid booster and if i carry on feeling better will go on Saturday to the walk in clinic. My new hoover came yesterday so will give that a test run its a miele cat and dog they are supposed to be good i had a Henry but he died and i do have a dyson stick which is ok for quickness but i dont think it does a really good clean. Gers ,TA and all those who are struggling i think we were so caught up in caring for family members we have forgotten how to be us I find i dont want to do anything or mix with people now I think i just need to to get my head round the fact my life has taken a 360 turn and then hopefully i can get back on track .

Morning all,Glad the meeting went ok RR.It's still not cold here, it's not drizzling but the glass roof in the kitchen is covered with a fine mist, perhaps it's low cloudI don't have DGD to pick up from school, she's off with an ear infection poor thing.Yesterday I went to the football stadium club shop to get something for DGS as a filler for his birthday, and also to sort out our tickets - the club is now insisting everyone has a membership before you can buy tickets. I tried and tried online but the website was having none of it so it was easier to get a lovely helpful lady to sort it. DS took me, and I was a while admittedly - went to go back to the car and saw him driving off He thought he'd get a McDs breakfast before they finished at 11!A friend rang in the afternoon, she was on a while - her household have got this supercold. We were meant to visit last weekend but she put us off, glad she did now. I hadn't started tea & time was marching on so I chopped some ch breasts up and cooked in the remoska covered in shawarma spices that luckily I had some left from the last time I made up a mix. Had it on wraps with garlic/yogurt sauce, and it went down well. For tonight I've pulled out a shepherds pie.I'm still carrying on with my kitchen cleaning/rearranging cupboards too Camelot. We got rid of loads of paperback at the Hospice shop at the weekend but they didnt want to take a set of 3 JoeWicks shape plan and recipes, they were like new. Can only presume they're overloaded after people got rid of all the cook books they bought over lockdown so I took them to another CS in town when I went on Monday.Right better get on with my day, take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
